The Hawks halfcourt defense was... pretty normal?

0.988 PPP allowed, the main halfcourt issue was DREB

It was the transition D that was a disaster.

1.435 PPP allowed on 25.5% (!) frequency, which is as bad as it gets

I won't say this is gospel, but from what I'm able to find, the Hawks have not allowed 86 points in the paint or more in a game since at least 2001-02.

Quin Snyder doesn't always open with a statement before taking questions but he did tonight.

Noted that Toronto played well and hard.

Also pointed out the points in the paint allowed, transition defense, fast break points allowed, and generally needing to clean things up.

The Hawks flopped in the opener, losing by 20 at home to the Raptors.

It was pretty ugly, particularly in the area of transition defense.

Toronto ended up with 34 fast break points and that might understate it.

Hawks trailed by as many as 13 but cut it to 6 at halftime.

10 turnovers and only 1 offensive rebound for Atlanta.

Defense stiffened a bit later in the half, but allowed too many free driving lanes.
