I am not in the USA, so I have all the Chinese EVs to choose from, which are at significantly lower prices than the Leaf and Bolt.

The updated Leaf and the returning Bolt feel like a return to the affordable EV for economical people who were concerned about the environment, but now with ranges suitable for commutes.

The era of the Teslas as the height of luxury or fashion is over, and we have returned to the affordable EV age

So I have been trapped in the unemployment system for 5 years now. I recently swapped to the DES to escape it. They had no idea what to do with me.

They used to flip out on me if I applied for jobs overseas, and eventually, when I applied for jobs in other states.

It's always a little tough for me to shed my old Reddit atheism past and accept religions as allies. However, we are in a situation where both the Pope (this one and the last one), and King Charles III, the head of Anglicanism, are serious climate activists.

The "achievable targets" thing was tilting me so much.

The targets aren't predictions, and you can't negotiate with phyiscs there are targets we need to hit and we need to plan to hit them.

I see your point. I find the grandiose claims of "general strike now" as just larping because there is so much work that needs to be done to even get the smallest of actions out of people
It is too big of a goal, need to start small and get the infrastructure in place.

If you read the law its pretty clear it was never meant to. It is built around the assumption that a project should go ahead and then putting some environmental regulations around that to limit damage, never to consider if the project is too dangerous to the environment to even start.

Okay, so how are you going to organise that? What is your plan? And how will you protect it from a hostile FBI and state security apparatus? And a compliant social media companies.

You need organisational infrastructure, you can't just declare a strike or boycott online and shut down anything.

They go from thier first job to their second job to pay for rent. No one can afford to work 9-5 anymore.

Not to mention long commutes for those outside the cities.

Only the rich and retired can afford to vote and they vote Republican.

The election was on a normal Tuesday, a lot of people couldn't get a day off the vote and the lines and limited voting places in many states means they would need a day off work.

Too late, that's now effectively illegal to organise. Attempting anything like that will get you tailed by the FBI.

There is no on the ground organising to co-ordinate that kind of collective action. Decades of union busting will do that.
