Three high schoolers founded a book club that reads some of the country's most frequently banned books after a state law removing books with sexual content was signed in 2023. Two years later, many of the books have been reshelved and parts of the law can't be enforced.

It's not difficult. No one cares about your booklearning. It's abstract and wanky.
People want practical solutions to points of friction in their own lives, and they need to understand where you're coming from in a straightforward talking point.

Reagan or Bush could have done this too. It’s everything outside the US counts for little, is part of despised booklearning, is interchangeable in the mind, is all just talk. Former presidents with ordinary person‘s ignorance should already have jolted Europeans into developing independent defence.

Hi from Canada; speak for yourselves. (Unless you are talking ab out the general course of human history; yes that gets worse) #bookLearning
One thing you can count on now is it’s going to get worse before it gets even worse.

This has been a fascinating journey with an entertaining twist. I take one lesson at a time. Knowing thyself is sometimes the hardest knowledge.

this is a man of courage. a man so bold he'd march 200 miles in the artic circle stark naked no matter what the so-called experts told him. buncha eggheads and nerds who only know things from booklearning and don't have real, practical experience with freeballing in the south pole.

I would argue that text is something that can provide plenty of learning potential--AFTER a prerequisite amount of embodied learning has happened. See: booklearning, abstractions, mathematics

Sharing this to share Saoirse's message but also to note how even on Bluesky there are those who assume a woman of Achill who refers to "any library in the country" must be talking about the country they live in, and so needs "correcting"! #MoreThanOneCountry #BookLearning #GoSaoirse #SpellChecked
Public libraries are amazing!
Did you know you can borrow a book from any library in the country and return it to any other library?
Did you know they have subscriptions to huge amounts of national and international media that you can access?

Very few RPGs require as much booklearning from players as GMs. Burning Wheel, Ars Magica and its white wolf successors spring to mind.
Ancillary thought: Rules Lawyers are the players that don’t push all responsibility on the GM and can often be persuaded to help teach other players

I want to test a theory I saw on Tumblr, so RTs are appreciated.
Do you think D&D is considered easy to learn because players push the responsibility of knowing the majority of rules to the DM?
To what degree do you feel this contributes to some D&D players unwillingness to try other ttrpgs?

his wife is a nurse who takes joy in easing the pain of the most desperate cases, including their blind dog. All throughout are peppered hints that this is someone just totally unprepared for adult life, despite their booklearning, and only able to survive b/c Sarah unstintingly helps him through it

#JaredKushner There is nothing wrong with #Booklearning In fact, previous U.S. negotiators of Middle East peace plans would have benefited from reading 25 books on Middle East history. But all of the knowledge in books will be misapplied if the reader, like Kushner, is corrupt
