My wife has been fretting over Chopin’s Prelude 16, which is about 45 seconds of pyrotechnic hell for any pianist. 3 weeks ago she could barely make it 5 seconds without resetting. Now she can get all the way through, 1 in 3 attempts. Humans are amazing but especially her

After some consideration: the Dead Rabbit Old Fashioned is the best Old Fashioned. Better than the Improved Whiskey Cocktail, which is also better than the Old Fashioned.

For comparison, the electric pizza oven that I use consumes 1,400 watts /hr and gets up to 842F
each nvidia blackwell chip consumes about 1,200 watts per hour which is on par with an electric space heater. now imagine 100,000 space heaters running in a single building

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

I spend so much time verifying everything now from art to cited sources to photos to historical references to citations to quotes to legal and medical information that it's really hard to fathom how much work AI has collectively added to the world, not reduced
Here's the reality this example illustrates:
It's not even just about people blindly trusting what ChatGPT tells them. LLMs are poisoning the entire information ecosystem. You can't even necessarily trust that the citations in a published paper are real (or a search engine's descriptions of them).

Some of my editorial work comes via Reedsy. Over the past year it's become completely overrun by people (I can't call them authors) who are asking for editorial help on manuscripts that have been generated by #AI. Often, what they want is for someone to make the text sound more human.
