That one Pats TD was like using a defib on a patient with asystole.

I've watched a lot of medical shows and The Pitt is the first one to:

1) show characters using hand sanitizer
2) not shock asystole
3) do realistic compresssions (apart from depth, cause duh can't break the extras' ribs)
4) do sternal rubs
5) use IO drills and NRBs

It is such a bizarre thing to look at a monitor for somewhere else in the department and be like, “Oh, 30 is a low heart rate”, and then watch it move to asystole, and then someone alter the settings to not alarm, all within 30 seconds.

Farewell, whoever you are. I hope you had a great story.

Very strange. Different QRS, different PR interval observations. Would be very unusual for a person to have both AV node and His-Purkinje block in precisely the same timeline. 🤷‍♂️
If that asystole is indeed the same patient, so glad the pacemaker is in!!

ASYSTOLE.
The Cleveland Browns looking for a head coach

Teaching today felt like trying to shock a patient with asystole 🫠

(Yes, I’ve been watching #ThePitt lately 😬)

Asystole is indeed an electrical issue. Wish it had been that one.

Asystole

So would asystole.
January 21, 2026 at 4:36 AM
Asystole IS a stable rhythm, just saying 🤷🏼‍♀️

Reminder that Rand Paul would shock asystole.

Mostly it makes them annoying. Ever try to watch House with a nurse?

YOU DON'T SHOCK ON ASYSTOLE! HOUSE WOULD HAVE DIED OF LIVER FAILURE TAKING THAT MUCH 5/325 VICODIN, AND HIS TOLERANCE WOULD BE SUCH THAT LITTLE HYDROCODONE WOULDN'T PRODUCE A NOTICEABLE EFFECT! I COULD GO ON! *breathes*

Ah. Mine was vf and then asystole

Af is a bitch because doctors don't treat it seriously. You heart can be thumping randomly but if they don't see it in hospital it is fine. Or it goes untreated

Listening to Asystole by Hayley Williams on my new speakers while I unpack that season premiere of The Pitt

The not shocking asystole is actually accurate, and is often a mistake in these shows. Someone on this show knows this, there was a little bit on it.

I like it so far.

Finally watching The Pitt. They didn’t shock asystole!

He will change his tune after local wears off, and happy to be attended to. Is it the one with its own defibrillator or 'just' the tick tick one? I first knew of them when Greenlane used to make their own!! help insert a few, nursed a few, My father had one 4 bradycardia, friend for asystole [14^]

Rhythm during CPR: any impact on #ECPR outcome?
⚡️ survival highest if persistent VF or conversion from non-shockable rhythm to VF, lowest if conversion to or persistent in non-shockable rhythm
⚖️ initial PEA & asystole? lower survival
🫀 asystole at cannulation? worse outcomes

asystole is a stable rhythm

I was in the first batch of nurses when CCUs and defibbing started in hospitals, [the machine the size of a small fridge] and can report a success rate of about 30%, plus a few precordial thumps, but patient on monitor so quickly revived which helped the %. Asystole is not a quick fix by zapping
