The Oklahoma House of Representatives gave that girl an award for writing a terrible essay? For getting a trans person fired? This whole thing is an op.

The State Department has renamed the Institute of Peace to the “Donald J Trump Institute of Peace”

Because nothing says “peace” like being accused of murdering defenceless survivors clinging off the side of a boat

Or killing 80+ men without due process

Women's tennis was one of the last sports I was still happily watching. They were already testing that with the Saudi sportswashing deals.

Souring things even more with the completely unnecessary anti-trans bigotry.

Donald Trump wants to be recognized as a peacemaker.

His deputies obliged today by putting his name on the headquarters of the U.S. Institute of Peace, an agency that DOGE tried to kill.

The new name — the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace — "adds insult to injury," said a lawyer for USIP staff.
Building gets a new name: The ‘Donald J. Trump’ Institute of Peace
The change comes as Trump’s administration has touted his peace deals and ahead of a signing of a deal between the leaders from Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo this week.

JUST IN: Mike Johnson plans to swear in Rep.-elect Matt Van Epps on Thursday — less than two days after he won the TN-07 special election.

As a reminder, it took Johnson 50 days to swear in Democratic Rep. Adelita Grijalva.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: Democrats can't hold official committee hearings, but they absolutely can gather in a room and invite people to answer questions and stream it live and invite the press to cover it.
NEW: Jim Jordan and House GOPers refused to let the American public hear directly from Jack Smith, per his attorney.

Huh. Didn’t know you could do that.
Breaking on MS NOW: The Signalgate report contradicts Pete Hegseth's claims he did nothing wrong. It shows he "violated policy by using a non-approved device," a source who read the report says.

Hegseth failed to preserve records. The report says he put the operations and service people at risk.

Maine should be a winnable Senate seat for dems. But Collins is going to wriggle out of it yet again.

I guess it's probably part of the overall plan.

But this is so disheartening.

Far too few of the assholes ever faced any consequences. And we just get to see the few who did have those consequences undone. One after another.

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

Cuellar was charged, by the Biden DOJ, with taking cash to push Azerbaijani and payday-loan interests and then laundering that cash through shell companies. If Jeffries can’t at least furrow his brow in concern over this he shouldn’t be anywhere near the levers of leadership.

This guy is such a fucking quisling.
Jeffries: "The border is secure. That's a good thing. It happened on his watch. He wants to claim credit for it, of course he'll get credit for that. In terms of making sure that we actually deal with the issues that matter, including on immigration, there's a lot that's left to be desired."

They are beating people who maybe once had a broken taillight and sending them to foreign slave prisons while freeing the worst fraudsters and every corrupt pol. The juxtaposition is so stark and appalling.
NEW: The commutation Trump issued to David Gentile wipes away all further fines & restitution.

Gentile had been sentenced to 7 years for his role in a $1.6B scheme that defrauded thousands of investors.

Prosecutors had been seeking $15.5M in forfeiture.

Regarding the accommodations discourse...

Unless you are writing your test to be a huge time pressure squeeze, giving somebody extra time isn't going to be a magical cheat code. If you don't know something in an hour, you aren't suddenly going to know it in 90 minutes...

At least when Platner decides to go full Fetterman, it will be not be as much of a surprise to as many people.
Graham Platner is leading Gov. Janet Mills by 20 points in the Maine Senate Democratic primary, per a new poll.

That might surprise pundits in DC, but it captures the vibe in Maine, where you might think he was the only candidate running. @zeteo.com

I know that I've been the doctor who left a clinic multiple times in the past. And that it's obviously a thing that's going to happen. But I liked my doc.

I assumed they were just on vacation. (I understand that some docs take these. I never had personal experience with that, of course.)...
