While I liked her as an actress, I am sad to remember that Diane Keaton was an abuse apologist, and she thought "victim culture was a horrible shame." She held problematic views.

DIANE KEATON transformed American cinema with performances that redefined leading women on screen. From Annie Hall's Oscar-winning charm to The Godfather's quiet strength, she brought intelligence, vulnerability, and style to every role. A huge loss. #RIP

Diane Keaton in her Manhattan apartment with Buster, an Abyssinian, photographed by Jill Krementz in 1977
black & white photograph of young Diane Keaton smiling and standing next to a white refrigerator in a barren-looking kitchen. her cat Buster is crouched on top of the fridge playing with/swatting her hair in the upper right hand corner. she's wearing a long skinny white scarf with a dot-grid pattern, a high-neck white blouse with an ascot/kerchief around the neck, and a black blazer/skirt or blazer dress over what looks like a vest

Pacino may have been the heart of the Godfather films,
but Keaton was the soul.

RIP Diane.

"I will never know Diane Keaton, but she had a wonderful quality about her that made me think she’d always offer the best life advice and a damn good laugh while passing the joint back on a summer evening."

Diane Keaton was a true Californian. She was a self-described oddball, uniquely stylish, deeply creative, funny, and an acting legend who could steal the screen in comic and dramatic roles alike. She was in a class all her own, an icon.

I'm so sad to hear this. Diane Keaton's son was a classmate of our son in elementary school so we saw her regularly at the school and talked occasionally. She was a really nice, down to earth, and thoughtful person.
