There are so many Diane Keaton performances to remember, but a lot of people haven't seen Reds, and A) my God, see it, it is a masterpiece and B) her performance as Louise Bryant is one of the bravest, toughest, least sympathy-courting pieces of work by an American actress in the last 50 years.

I’ve just seen a dilapidated Nissan Micra, half the paint peeling of its roof, parked on Lowestoft’s London Road South, sporting a tiny bumper sticker, which I couldn’t read until I leaned down to peer at it, which said ‘I ❤️ MILFS’.This is Britain in 2025.

I first found out when I went to a Peter Saville exhibition about twenty years ago in one part of the gallery all the Unknown Pleasures stuff and then in another this. I was really shocked. Both are glorious.

I went to see this at Sheffield Showroom around the time it was released and had forgotten all about it and then I read Stuart Braithwaite’s book last week and found out it had a cult following. Think a rewatch will trigger lots of memories.
