Have seen this sentiment a lot. But it’s wrong because it inverts the core, fundamental causes.

Nixon wasn‘t pushed out by his own because they wanted him out. Republicans were FORCED to push him out, by the weight of public opinion, which got his approval down to around 25%.

When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

As we mourn Rob Reiner, don’t skip this: he was, pretty much, personally responsible for overturning California’s Prop 8 banning same sex marriage.

Short version because people aren't reading the blog

- "dislikes", essentially just a "not interested" button, private, doesn't effect anyone but yourself

- "Social proximity", puts people you know at the top of comments

- "Reply context", shows people full thread before they reply

Mamdani's media strategy is, funny enough, exactly what actual news orgs should be doing.

Fuck you.

Using sex work as shorthand for classy or trashy or morally repugnant or whatever this is supposed to be puts you more in line with the current administration than it does his opposition.
Trump already made the Oval Office look like a movie-set whorehouse; imagine the White House ballroom he’s building.

Money doesn’t buy class.

On the contrary, the reason they're all so fucking bitter is they know most people aren't like them. And they resent that.

I see that a lot of people are discovering today that Snopes isn't a reliable source of information any more and is probably doing as much harm as good now, so here's how it got from there to here
So if anybody sees me periodically go on and on about how I was right about everything and nobody listened, this is pretty much what I'm talking about. I don't really expect sympathy so much as I really just need to work through it and what better place than Bsky? Anyway here's a story about it
Inside Snopes: the rise, fall, and rebirth of an internet icon
The Snopes saga would ultimately remind the world that sometimes the people who police our messy digital lives are themselves in need of—at a minimum—some adult supervision.
