At 10 over 75? Non-zero chance his 'trial' is a note read aloud next to a burn pit.

You know the joke that in some extreme circumstances you 'stop being biology and start being physics'?

There is a point where your politics stop being law and start being history. It is not a good place to be.

The problem with this article is they asked too many lawyers and not enough historians.

As a historian, I'd say the legality of Trump's immunity and pardons depends on how he leaves office.

At 40 over 55 approval? He's immune.

At 25 over 65? He's probably not immune & self-pardons aren't legal.

i think the entire notion of all of this being priced in -- which is absolutely correct -- is really at a "fire and brimstone" level of immorality

fwiw the reason the epstein thing isnt a resigning issue is that, like basically everything else about trump, him being a sex criminal was already priced in

The simple truth is that children in the poorest places on earth died from lack of food and medicine because the richest country on the planet voted to shred their own Constitution due to annoyance over the prices of their chicken nuggie delivery services.

The death of the author was a mistake. Jim Scifiman was very clear about the meaning of “Don’t Build The Torment Nexus.” Not all readings are valid no matter how widespread they may be.

Odd thing about Mearsheimer’s Putin apologetics is his IR theory does a good job explaining the war.

Russia would always try to regain what USSR lost, NATO smartly grabbed relative power when it could, and an inevitable (tragic) clash happened.

But that doesn’t scold US liberals and excuse Putin.
Mearsheimer has now taken the stance that states go to war because it’s the central feature of political life — except Russia, which goes to war because of american liberals.

This pointless stunt by Cory Booker is accomplishing nothing but drawing attention to the Trump administration’s wrongdoing and delaying the work of the Senate and energizing the Democratic base and, wait, hang on, let me come in again

Liberals convinced themselves that liberalism is, in a purely positive sense, impossible to eliminate. They became a sort of historical materialist where the end state is liberal democracy instead of communism.
No system which endures is neutral on the question of its own existence! Where you draw that line is an incredibly hard question, but when it’s drawn, it’s drawn.
Can't do something like ban a party because that's illiberal, even if the party that you would ban would themselves happily turn democracy into a farce.
