lol wait what holy shit that’s … alright gang you know what I’m gonna say it’s with a heavy heart we must call and *thank* our reps for doing the job they’re supposed to do
👀 Every Senate Democrat + Collins and Murkowski just voted for the Bernie Sanders amendment to repeal the $75 billion in additional ICE funding under Trump’s “big beautiful bill.” The measure failed 49-51.

It is no coincidence that we’re seeing a rise in fascism about fifty years after integration of elite universities.

That’s how long it took for that initial fraternity cohort to gain access to the most powerful roles in our society.

This is genuinely important.

The White House seems MOST concerned with suppressing any evidence that Melania fucked Epstein before he passed her to Donald.

They could have redacted ALL women as a way to suppress that.

"Every good thing you have in your life is the product of someone else's struggle."
This is a very powerful video from comedian Josh Johnson. Not just because what he says that's meaningful. But because it shows an emerging trend that high profile people have finally started speaking up, despite concerns it might alienate their followers.

It is time to choose sides.

More than a year in this has mostly gone as I feared, and in some ways has been worse. But there have been two contrasting surprises:

-- The speed and breadth of institutional capitulation

-- The courage, ferocity, and resolution of regular people

Our strength isn't our institutions. It's us.

New at Can We Still Govern: Here is one thing I wish more people understood about government. There is a lot of rent-seeking by private vendors in our social safety net. Trump's policies will make this worse.

Recent ICE goon pepper spraying someone in the face up close reminded me of this from Occupy at UC Davis. School chancellor Linda Katehi only faced repercussions years later for spending resources to try and get this scrubbed from the internet.

the heartening silver lining in this awful situation is that the urban school district at the center of the SC county where most of these measles cases are occuring has not been affected because most district 7 schools are 95% immunized. the firewall is holding!

For anyone so inclined, my advice is that it's time to start a whip list of Senate Dems demanding that Miller go.
There’s a deep rot to the core of this administration and Stephen Miller is one of the most dangerous people in the country right now.

Noem’s got to go, but so does he.

Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.
