CBS News is now so utterly devoid of ethos or professionalism that even their fucking house advertising now reads like the hackery of flag-waving yahoos rather than dispassionate, committed journalists. In a month or two. these frauds will be waving bibles and talking about how God is on our side.
What is this nonsense?

Oh yeah, insane, pro-Trump, pro-Netanyahu billionaires taking over CBS News.

Welp, guess Pinterest will basically become unusable. It was already heading downhill with all the AI but this certainly won’t help.

LETS GO WOKE POPE
Pope Leo decried conditions for Palestinians in Gaza in his Christmas sermon on Thursday, in an unusually direct appeal during what is normally a solemn, spiritual service on the day Christians across the globe celebrate the birth of Jesus. For @reuters.com:

another day going to the website where I go to post “holy shit!!!” after an incredible TD catch, and reading about how the most powerful people on earth have perpetrated the worst crimes imaginable with no repercussions, all before finishing my coffee. this is probably good for my mental health

truly amazing how many different professions there are where everyone’s newest persistent headache is “AI zealots high on their own supply”
Met a 40yo gallery-ist at a party in SF. We spent most of the party talking abt the art world, but mostly what she talked abt was how most of her life now is telling AI “artists” that they are not artists, she won’t sell their “work” in her gallery, & that “prompt writer” isn’t an artistic medium.

Congress has finally given the Lumbee Tribe full federal recognition after fighting for 137 years for the benefits they deserve.

This is long overdue, and I am thrilled that the Lumbee will finally have access to the same services as other federally recognized tribes.

I'm not sure I've ever seen anything with a larger disconnect between the executive class and the general public than AI - there have been cases where executives want to push something they know is unpopular, but on AI it's like the backlash hasn't penetrated their bubble at all
What gets me about executives at movie/videogame studios being taken aback at consumer backlash to AI is that they seem genuinely surprised that we like the human beings that make the things that we like

It would be so funny if this was an intensive course to teach you how to send one of those scam marketing emails from Toni Morrison or Elena Ferrante.

For generations people “cut off” parents by moving away and mailing them a card once a year. Travel and long distance phone calls were expensive; distance effectively cut people off w/o being so explicit.

The difference now is that communication is cheap so cutting them off requires being explicit.
There's no hard data, so it's impossible to know for sure, but I suspect the number of adult children cutting off their parents isn't significantly higher than it used to be, and what's actually new is that the children are now explaining it in therapy terms rather than simply ceasing contact.

So, when I was in art class in high school, there was a weekly homework assignment where you had a page printed with eight empty boxes, and the assignment was to fill those boxes with eight different variations on the same loose prompt. Eight different concepts or styles to approach the same idea.
