Trial by ordeal! Trial by ordeal!
Sometimes it's frustrating to not be able to come down on a side of an argument. But this is one of those instances where I don't think there's a right answer. The system is so broken. The best solution would be to pump £bns into it. Can I see the public choosing that over eg NHS or pensions? No.

It’s Thatcherism taken to its illogical conclusion: they can’t just destroy the entire postwar settlement, because the system we’ve created requires desperately poor people who are alive. So they’ve created an insanely cruel marketised dystopian nightmare that they also hate, but will die defending.

It is essential to remember that Sensible centrists got everything they wanted in the UK.

The left smashed, their Competent Sensible politicians won by a landslide last year and have a huge majority and the policies they dreamed of implemented.

And the result is endless horror.

I mean how can a political party so totally misunderstand its electoral base or, even worse, choose to totally reject it because it wants a different one?
“A retired miner in Blyth who voted for us up to 2005 but will never vote for us again supports Brexit; and we don’t want to upset him because we wish he still voted for us, so we’ll alienate millions who might vote for us” is the single most ridiculous, self-harming electoral strategy in history.

Anyways, we have a major political party leader who is a de facto English nationalist and I think that should probably be a bigger deal.
Or when he says he wants Welsh and Scottish independence, but appears to have not really thought about English independence and says he doesn't want to drive this. But he, de facto, does!

It seems like in each age we are doomed to have a Guy who rises to 'intellectual' prominence simply on the thesis that "the people with wealth and power are actually better and deserve wealth and power" and yet Curtis Yarvin is somehow the dumbest of these guys yet to have arrived.
Curtis Yarvin, the pseudo-intellectual guru of Peter Thiel, Marc Andreessen, Elon Musk and J.D.Vance, explaining how he was red-pilled by a neo-Nazi propaganda video on YouTube. Real deep stuff.

The UK is in a dark place right now, where anti-asylum attitudes have spilled over into racism from the 1970s or earlier. These types of comments are not 'the result of' higher migration. They are the personal responsibility of the person who wrote them.

Wow.

"It gives me no pleasure to say what I’m about to say because I worked with Pete Hegseth for seven or eight years at Fox News. This is an act of a war crime .... There’s absolutely no legal basis for it.”

- Newsmax's Judge Napolitano
Woah. Newsmax’s legal analyst just said Pete Hegseth and everyone involved in the illegal boat strike should be “prosecuted for a war crime.”

They’ve even lost Newsmax on this one.
