It’s been reported locally, but I’m not sure how much national notice this has gotten. As part of this invasion by shithead goons, they are putting ICE agents in jetbridges and other parts of the airport at Minneapolis-Saint Paul. If you are flying Delta via MSP, you are putting yourself at risk.
ICE agents to begin checking documents at MSP airport, patrol jet bridges - Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents will begin checking documents of travelers and workers at MSP airport, with patrols inside jet bridges.

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

relatedly please send funds to @supplydepotmpls.bsky.social. ICE might suffer in this weather but our unhoused neighbors definitely will without support!!!!
It’ll be dangerously cold this weekend in the Twin Cities. Windchills will reach -20°. With how violently ICE is grabbing people, they might not be dressed for the weather, especially if ICE keeps dumping people miles from their home or car without their phone. Frostbite hits quickly at these temps.

I’m seeing posts from people (outside of MN) about how US citizens should carry their passports.

And let me say that *inside* MN, we are calmly responding to requests with: “No, I don’t have to show you any documentation.”

Because that’s how you protect everyone, regardless of immigration status.

I compared the user interface in this photo to the leaked user guide I have for Mobile Fortify, and it's the same. I don't know how to convey to people that POLICING in the US is experienced by countless Black and brown people in the way that ICE is currently acting towards people.

The amount of organizing happening in a VERY short period of time is truly mind boggling.

I've seen things come together in hours that, in the nonprofit & education spaces, would take weeks or MONTHS of planning and coordination.

So, so proud of the Twin Cities right now.

We are in fact DESPERATE for winter coats, waterproof gloves, and good boots. We get so many wonderful donations but it is so cold and the numbers of unhoused unsheltered people are going up at the absolute worst time for it, and we run out of coats weekly.
The frigid Twin Cities temperatures will hurt the homeless; so do not gloat about the impact on ICE without also stepping up here:
If you're still able to help Minnesota, @supplydepotmpls.bsky.social is always accepting donations. $10 buys a pack of handwarmers. If you were given Amazon gift cards this year for Christmas, you can shop their Amazon wishlist: linktr.ee/sanctuarysup...

I get that Frey is Looking Cool on his Media Blitz rn but also we could use some substantive policy assistance from him and Walz atm.
Four members of the Minneapolis City Council holding a press conference tomorrow calling for a statewide eviction moratorium, arguing that leaving home to go to work puts many of our neighbors at risk of being kidnapped by ICE.

the baby sneezed directly into my mouth the other day and today I had to fly home while essentially exuding hagfish levels of slime. this is another great reason to wear a mask around other people. also I miss that baby already.

These peaceful observers I spoke to had ICE show up at their homes in what they see as attempts at intimidation. ICE has somehow been accessing Minnesotans' private data in likely violation of state law, according to privacy advocates.

As thousands of immigration agents arrive in Minnesota, neighbors are working together to track, distract and protest ICE. The cat-and-mouse game between activists and agents is escalating as tactics change daily.

Journalists often go on hand-fed ride-alongs with agents.

Seldom, though, do they get into the cars of everyday people protecting their communities from those same agents.

We just did exactly that, in ICE-occupied Minneapolis:

I'm still processing the miraculous trust/terror of being left alone to watch over a sleeping baby last night while two new parents spent time reconnecting to their community. what a time to be far from home, but also what a time to be.
visit your friends. kiss their baby. cook them dinner. show them your fav comedy videos from the parts of the internet that are still good. sit on their roof under the stars talking about the world we still can build. yell at the moon. wish on a meteor. repeat.
