Every dollar JK Rowling makes from Harry Potter is going into bankrolling an extortion racket issuing legal threats to organizations across the UK to purge themselves of trans people or face ruinous lawfare.
i hope every single person who still buys harry potter merch or engages with that franchise is happy that they're literally making girl guides cry

girl guides uk have been forced very much against their will to exclude trans girls. full statement is here: www.girlguiding.org.uk/information-...

The harm comes to the trans grad instructor, not the institution, just as TPUSA would have it.
OU has put the professor here on administrative leave:

Classic sunk cost fallacy. Ridiculous, and doesn’t account for variables, such as: 1. The money to be made by investing in stuff the public truly wants or needs. 2. The other possible harms and losses that can come from making stupid tech. 3. The towering cost of destroying the environment.

Do you hate the new Vaccines and Autism webpage revisions as much as we do? Yes? Great. Some action items:

1. Submit your concerns through CDC INFO: www.cdc.gov/cdc-info/for...
2. (if not a fed employee) Consider adding "vaccines do NOT cause autism" to your signature line 😈
Email CDC-INFO

Come on, Dept. of Ed! What, did you get tired of ruining the teaching profession and decide to beat up a new type of public servant???
🚨Dept. of Education proposes to exclude public health degrees from the “professional degree” category.

That means new public health experts could lose access to key higher ed resources, like loan limits & reimbursement.

A bold strategy to let infectious diseases win! 🦠

I’m just saying, but if I had just gotten completely shellacked on Tuesday, I wouldn’t be asking SCOTUS to let me starve millions of people 3 days later.

Inconceivable!
On the other site, an 18-year-old Zohran canvasser described the legendary Wallace Shawn as "the actor who plays Dr. Sturgis on Young Sheldon" which is honestly adorable

We need a new word like ‘enshittification’ for the addition of unwanted AI to everything.
Paitronization? Spaitfulness? Aimorality? Intrusaiveness? Waistfulness?
Is there already a term for it and I just don’t know what it is?

Truth. Local and state public health are doing their level best to hold the line, and to build multi-state cooperation. Also: you’ll need to increase your state’s public health budget in the next few years. They are taking up an enormous new burden and likely losing their federal funding.
great interview with some really important points

No one should be judged less worthy, less valuable, less educated, or less eloquent if they speak differently than you do. Language is culturally acquired and very specific. People should not have to ‘code switch’ to be taken seriously — by asking them to, we insult the family who raised them.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

Also, these are the students college professors have to worry about. There is a nearly circular Venn diagram showing where this group overlaps with the Turning Point group, who doxx professors with whom they disagree.
The thing about the Nazi chat is these people turned the country upside down and got a lot of people fired to be able to say those things in comfort.

Also, part of being a good ally is making sure the people who are being targeted for hate do not have to bear the burden of protest alone. If we all show up, we break every kind of fascist or nationalist narrative.
one response to this (correct) observation is to say “well, the cops will attack you no matter how you dress and behave.” that’s right. images of cops and ICE beating grandmas and kids in inflatable frog costumes is a win for the opposition.
one of the reasons they're so mad at "no kings" is that they thought they were going to get a different kind of protest. they *want* the black bloc to be out there fighting with the cops. those are the images they've been trying to generate from "go." instead--

☎️Take a few minutes today to call your reps and senators. They need to hear from us, especially from federal workers.

Tell them to hold the line, to not let our trauma and suffering be in vain. Force republicans to the negotiating table and remind Trump he does not yet own us all.

Also, at the same time making pregnancy more dangerous by reducing access to care and telling pregnant people not to be vaccinated, and not to take fever-reducers/painkillers (acetaminophen). This is about causing pain and harm.
But if pregnancy is all-consuming, painful, and may happen at any time, then it's much harder to do other things with your life, too. Women's spheres narrow. And that's what they are aiming for: circumscription of women's lives. (Really all our lives.)

I truly crave the day when we are no longer ruled by the kinds of people who can be bought by old white billionaires.
Bad news for MAGA: 242 days into Donald Trump's term, his net approval rating is -17%, down 2.6 points since last week.
39% approve, 56% disapprove, 4% not sure.

This is a reminder that late night talk shows are not the only targets for government censorship and overreach. Book bans are censorship, too, and a book ban has never been on the right side of history.
