MAGA will always be escalating.

A political party tries to court your vote.
An authoritarian regime tries to keep you from voting and sow chaos and spread violence to seize control over elections.
Pam Bondi just sent a letter to Minnesota officials saying ICE will leave if the state turns over its voter database to Trump.

Guess what? This has never been about safety or immigration. It’s a pretext for Trump to take over elections in swing states.

Essentially, what stops abductions is when crowds outnumber the masked kidnappers. When people aggressively follow ICE with whistles and horns, crowds are ready to show up. If they show up fast enough, ICE leaves and a family is not broken. (People here understand the stakes).

My loose info so far is that the Minneapolis General Strike today had about 80 unions sign on, and it might be one of the biggest labor actions in decades depending on your definition

The nucleus of the repression is MN because it's "real America" and "the heartland" yet repudiates all that MAGA alleges.
The nucleus of the resistance is MN because "treat others as you wish to be treated" has genuinely been far more than a slogan for leaders there.
Why Minnesota? It's not merely the most horrific kind of ill-luck that delivered another caught on video state mandated murder. Minnesota represents a direct assault on the white nationalist narrative & thus claim to power. 🧵

It's going to be cold as fuck tomorrow and Minnesota will be on fire. They've gotten 500 business to close in solidarity, same for Hennepin County and many school districts.

The moral compass is set and clearly pointed to the North Star state. #DayofTruthandFreedom

Yes, people care most about econ. And loudest possible message about that is life - most people know how much more shit costs. Very first task of election is to make it ABOUT the thing that puts oppo on back foot & you on best standing. You pick a *salient* thing voters believe you'd improve.
I will repeat: It is not obvious, based on the data, that campaigning on the economy in Nov would be significantly more effective than campaigning on immigration. Gov. policy is dramatically out of step with the public on immigration/deportations, and executive overreach is a potent motivator

The Senate is on recess this whole week.

The Senators could all be in Minneapolis right now, riding with ICE patrols, speaking out about what's happening, and standing up for what's right.

That they are not is a choice.

Today I talked with a 76 year old who'd been standing in the cold for hours guarding her neighbors. I was getting kind of chilly, even in the new winter gear i bought for this trip (and I live in the goddam mountains myself).

She didn't even have a hat on.

Fifth, even if all you care about is getting in office (not governing from office), if your sales pitch is you will stop the regime and restore whatever the fuck status quo people hated (see 2024 results), then you have to get caught trying to at least do that.

The purpose of politics is to enact an agenda, not to get into power merely for the sake of having your name on the door. Not to mention the fact that voters desperately want fighters not folders.

Republicans are relentless in pursuit of their agenda without regard to law, morality or "electability." They're hell bent on rolling back the 20th Century, to them "great again" means total control in a few wealthy, white hands.
No one from the GOP Congressional majority does anything about all this because they're into it.

That's the Occam's razor explanation. Yet there's more focus on finding excuses for them. "No, you have to understand, honoring the Constitution is bad for their job prospects."

OK. So they're into it.

Please read this thread and watch the video.
One of the things about people showing up to protest for the first time, that many, many armchair theorists don't grasp, is the effect of seeing what happens with your own eyes, then seeing how media covers it, and what is said ABOUT YOU by media and political personalities/office holders.
