Media keeps describing Pretti as a “protester” - “why bring a gun to a protest” - but he was something much more akin to a community-based first responder for ICE sightings. He likely wasn’t expecting to get beaten in the street by them or have any violent encounter. Just observe and alert.
You need to understand that there are not lengthy standoffs between protesters and ICE in Minneapolis. Alex Pretti was not a “protester” in a conventional sense. ICE lurks around the city and occasionally takes aggressive actions, and bystanders and observers document it and raise the alarm
obviously rioting is not what anyone wants to have happen, but does the NG's agenda being to control the protest suggest that they are there to support the federal agencies against the protestors?

We commend those demonstrating peacefully right now. To ensure the safety of residents, the City is putting in place a vehicle perimeter in the area surrounding the scene of today's fatal shooting by federal agents. The zone includes Franklin Ave to 28th St, 35W to Pillsbury Ave

This is important. Abolishing ICE is not enough. Prosecution is the bare minimum.

Alex Pretti is dead because Jonathan Ross got away with killing Renee Good. That empowered other ICE agents to do the same.
this is it. this is the level. this is the standard for democratic officials. anything less is intolerable.

One thing that irks me: people keep calling the folks on the streets in Minneapolis protestors. They are not generally there to protest, they are there to observe and document. This is the product of organizing and mutual aid. It is telling that these acts of citizenship are seen as protest!

Minneapolis genuinely has phenomenal political leadership, just not in the Mayor or Governor’s offices.

Thank you to my Council President 🫡❤️
I’ve been here on the scene all morning. Right after recording the convoy you can see in the background of the video tear gassed me.

I've talked to people on the ground about the strike here tomorrow, and the single thing everyone brings up is just how shockingly wide the support for the strike is. Businesses that no one would have expected to support it are doing so.
National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.

Important to know that Armstrong is a reverend and that she and the protesters felt compelled by faith as well their commitment to civil rights.

This is the state choosing which Christians they will support and which part of the 1A they will defend.

There is going to come a time in your life when you are chatting with a guy, at a barbecue or something, a new coworker maybe, a dad at school drop off, and he tells you he used to be in ICE. You’re going to need to spit on that guy
Minnesota: "School officials say the [5-year-old] child was used as bait. They say [ICE] agents made little Liam knock on the door to ask to be let in in order to see if anyone else was home."

Here’s how every Democrat should be talking, for the dunderheads who keep saying “but they can’t doooooo anything”
Our constituents are being surveilled, threatened, tear gassed, shot, subjected to warrantless arrest, kidnapped, and disappeared. 35 people have died in detention in ICE’s deadliest year yet.

ICE’s terror and violence need to end.

I have been told that this undercover ICE agent tried to get observers to scan a QR code “for his website”. The QR code did not resolve to a link.

DO NOT SCAN UNKNOWN QR CODES FROM STRANGERS.

This is a massive security risk! Bad things can happen to you if you do it!

Stay frosty, friends.
Every day some story breaks me some. Today it’s the guy who approached parents at a school patrol, told them he was with Indivisible, and asked about how the patrol system works. The parents gave vague answers, followed him back to his car — and of course it was ICE.

My governor and federal reps should be holding press confs and going on tv telling people that one of the largest school districts is closed because of a federal gov’t-led ethnic cleansing campaign run by armed, masked goons who are brutalizing citizen observers and disappearing non-white neighbors.
This is the type of thing that I want my statewide-elected and federal officials to push back against. We are seeing the creation of a pretext for bringing in troops in real time and no one with the power to get an audience is standing up for us to tell America all of it is a fiction.
