ICE agents killed a man and are disappearing the witnesses.
The StarTribune live blog is paywall free:
- The man shot by federal agents this morning has died
- Several witnesses have already been transported to the Whipple building.
- ICE attempted to order local police from the scene, but O’Hara refused, sources said.

Every minute ICE is out there publicly defending kidnapping and using a fucking preschooler as bait is a moment they are losing. I refuse to believe that there is an America that wants this shit.
ICE spokesperson Marcos Charles: "My officers stayed with the child. They cared for him. Took him to get something to eat from a drive-thru restaurant and spent hours ensuring he was taken care of. Again, my officers did that, not his father ... his family refused to open the door and take him back"

while you're contacting your reps and senators, tell them to demand arrests and criminal charges for everyone involved in doing this to this little kid, and their bosses, and their bosses' bosses
Minnesota: "School officials say the [5-year-old] child was used as bait. They say [ICE] agents made little Liam knock on the door to ask to be let in in order to see if anyone else was home."

LOVE this movie. Gorgeously composed, emotionally deep, and surprisingly breezy to watch.
Today in The Reveal, I add Bertrand Bonello's HOUSE OF TOLERANCE (a.k.a. HOUSE OF PLEASURES) to the New Cult Canon. A bold, enveloping, heartbreaking film about the oldest profession. Still my favorite of his: thereveal.film/the-new-cult...
The New Cult Canon: ‘House of Tolerance’
Bertrand Bonello's bold portrait of a turn-of-the-century French brothel casts the oldest profession in a new light.

The movie begins with Jet Li throwing a cop in the air and roundhouse kicking him into another cop. Somehow it gets even better from there.
I feel like 99% of us have seen The One and 99% of people not on Bluesky have not seen The One and don’t know how good a movie about Jet Li karate fighting Spacecop Delroy Lindo could be

The word “conservative” here is really telling!!!
The father of the ICE agent who killed Renee Nicole Good says his son is "a committed, conservative Christian" and "I couldn't be more proud of him."
Jonathan Ross’ father speaks out over fatal shooting
Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen, was shot by Ross in Minneapolis on Wednesday during a traffic stop.

you know this guy is a FOR REAL photographer because he's telling the story of his brutal, unconditional arrest by federal goons and can't help but slip in a gear review
Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

I’ve started using the term “ethnic cleansing campaign” to describe the ICE occupation here in Minnesota. This is deliberate because the reality on the ground is that, at a given moment, any non-white person can be kidnapped by masked federal paramilitaries regardless of their constitutional rights.

friendly reminder

The things you believed were right yesterday are still right. They'll be right if they put you in jail. They'll be right if they shoot you. They'll still be right when these people are dead and dusted and gone.

The history of civilian mass detention on the basis of identity without due process or recourse (which is how I defined concentration camps in my history of them) shows that it invariably leads to permanent harm—and typically significant loss of life as well. The longer it goes on the worse it gets.
As detention expands, conditions get worse, thanks to overcrowding and the chaotic transfers of people all over the country.

ICE detention has always had problems, but they're worse than ever now and the impact is clear. Deaths hit a record level in 2025, and 2026 is already looking to be worse.
The detention system has grown so rapidly that already harmful conditions have worsened.

Thousands of immigrants arrested in the interior are detained in hastily built tent camps, where conditions are brutal.

More people died in ICE detention in 2025 than in the past four years combined.

These barbarians are destroying everything that makes society work. Kids can't go to school, patients can't go to the hospital. We are, in effect, paying them to wreck the basic infrastructure of the country

I like that they’ve given up on even having immigration enforcement as a pretext for any of this. It’s just purely armed masked goons wandering around in the middle of intersections harassing U.S. citizens as a display of force now.
Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

Emily Heller, an eyewitness, is speaking out to set the record straight. Officers were screaming at Renee Nicole Good, “Move, move, move.”

So she moved, and they shot her multiple times? Then Noem and Trump branded her a domestic terrorist. Does everyone see how absolutely insane that sounds?

The future of Hall of Fame debates for pitchers is going to be “guys like Felix” vs “guys like Buehrle.” Both have merits, but I’d feel much better about the first group being honored
Félix Hernández is making huge jump in HOF voting. If you're wondering why, I broke down his case last year & it totally turned me around.

I’m not fully opposed to Mark Buehrle in the Hall of Fame (I’d be a no vote for now, but I could change my mind), but I don’t understand why there’s been a significant contingent for him while there was seemingly no support whatsoever for Tim Hudson, who had a very similar career
