cities should build enough housing that the children of these communities can leave and then these communities should die. this appears to be what the people living in them want

Something notable in this article is how much the life long locals don’t seem to give a shit. Which was an entirely predictable outcome if you've spent any amount of time among people like this

The Civil Rights Movement and the Gay Marriage movement both emerged out the deliberate construction of thick social institutions to bind oppressed, atomized ppl with the same problem together.

From there, you can get the strength to win political wars. Without it, you're fucked.

This is an extremely precedented problem for oppressed minority communities. There are always 'better to reign in Hell' types who want to climb up by kicking the ppl around them down further.

The way groups deal with this problem is by building institutions and cultivating self-respect.

Trans ppl are not to blame for their plight. But those specific psychos *are*, in fact, to blame, in large part. Especially because they *actively* do everything they can to tear down any other trans person who wants to act like a responsible, uncloseted adult in public.

Those psychos could be easily baited into sending true threats, including death threats, into making creepy sex-predator style statements about ppl they didn't like, into generally acting in the most gloriously antisocial manner possible.

Far right grifters keep trying to start crusades to destroy the furry community and they keep failing, b/c the furries, by and large, don't take the bait, and play respectability politics well.

Conversely, there were a ton of utter psychos in commanding positions in the trans activist community.

so there just isn't as much need for these paranoid excavations of "evil amongst us," the evil has just made itself highly obvious, they have flags and slogans and a political party in charge of a country. woke 2 is about power: how do we gain it back and what do we do with it after.

Woke 2 is distinctively an ideology of Trump II, when we no longer need to go looking for some hidden enemy, no longer need to work to uncover the infiltrators and the enemies hiding their power level

the enemy is out in the light and screaming about how much they hate us, there is no mystery there

here's my take on Woke 2. the thing about Woke 1 is that it's born from the end of history era, when it was important to re-discover forms of oppression that had been denied or hidden. but this led to a [clears throat] hermeneutics of suscpicion, and ultimately paranoia and internecine factionalism

a republic with no republican virtues cannot stand
There has to be a term, concept for how the virtues of a free society fall apart in the face of nothing but advertising, soliciting, and propagating, and glorifying vice.

Wild how people like this, just like russians, still can’t comprehend that the Revolution of Dignity wasn’t staged. It was Ukrainians choosing freedom over fear. Imperialists and small minds always assume someone else must be pulling the strings, because they’ve never seen a nation with a spine.

Reports of Israeli authorities torturing Palestinian prisoners have shocked the world, with victims describing horrific abuse. When will those responsible be held accountable for these heinous crimes?

The actual "worse than watergate" scandal is how much news media collectively worked to ratfuck a Democratic presidency by largely inventing health/mental acuity concerns for hyperventilate about while largely ignoring the very real & worsening issues in front of their faces from Trump

This is a huge part of why so many people think we're in the middle of a widespread "anti-woke backlash": Small movements opposed to social progress are collected into trend stories by conservative media. Far larger movements that want more diversity are ignored or cast as threats.

It is rankest hypocrisy to claim to be a nationalist and sell off the nation's heritage. You cannot be a defender of western civilization while hawking our cultural history like so much junk at a yard sale.
1/ Trump sells off our national treasures.
“It is a tragic irony that murals meant to represent the contract between the government and its citizens—the Social Security that over 70 million Americans rely on today—would be sold to the highest bidder rather than preserved for posterity.”
