Any one of these daily atrocities should result in a full congressional investigation and a disbanding of the agency. The fact that it’s all just shrugged off by those with the power to stop it is a national disgrace.
ICE ended up returning the man, Saly, after realizing he’s a fucking US citizen with no criminal record, per his sister-in-law. These fucking animals.

You must learn to hate the aristocracy as much as it hates you.
This would not happen in a democracy, which is why, if we are serious about our commitment to it, we must accept we do not currently live in democracies and that moving towards such a system would require radical change rather than faith in the status quo

Victor Manuel Diaz was kidnapped from Minneapolis. He was my neighbor and he died in an American concentration camp. He was not "illegal," he was a human being made in the image of the divine. May his memory be a blessing, and may the rest of us fight like hell until we stop this brutality.
This is the sixth death in ICE custody in 18 days. This isn’t enforcement, it’s a system that cages people, outsources care, and shrugs when they die. Abolish ICE.

We've heard a number of reports now of DHS agents at Whipple confiscating arrestees' phones and refusing to return them. Talked with a guy several nights ago who said they wouldn't give his back, and there were more reports of it last night. Just something to keep in mind/be aware of.

Honestly one of my biggest worries (that isn't just "Republicans win 2028") is that Democrats win 2028 but in the same way they won 2020, or the same way UK Labour won 2024. They don't learn anything, don't change anything, don't prosecute anyone important, and engage in no self-reflection.

Bluesky! A question: what upcoming (say 2026-2028) aspec releases are there? I've fallen off keeping track of overall releases and I'm trying to get back to that.

Right now I know of, like, 14 and about half of them are my friends and myself.

It’s ironic that they’re like “if we do ethnic cleansing we’ll have a high trust neighborly society” and then Minneapolis is literally doing high trust neighborly society and they’re like nooooo
Many Americans are terrible neighbors to each other, and that is why MN is striking everyone as extraordinary activism... when they are telling us that it is not. They're good neighbors!

It's no wonder that "being a shitty neighbor" is the hallmark of our domestic politics and our foreign policy.

I haven't seen the dunks but I will say that LOCAL CONDITIONS have to determine TACTICS. Folks, whistles are just a tactic and tactics vary according to context. Why waste time on this? If you've organized for 10 minutes, you know this is true. Keep it moving.
People are dunking on the posts from rapid response groups in the DC area about why they don’t use whistles

But those groups are making these kinds of decisions after talking with a whole bunch of people in the targeted communities. They’re not doing it arbitrarily

Bikes might be a little slower in the snow, but biking is always reliable.

(And if people who bike have dedicated bike streets and lanes away from cars, biking is much safer than driving.)

Cities work best when people can choose what works best for their own travel needs.
The Utrecht morning rush hour in the snow did not disappoint!

It exposes directional alignment; you still seek to limit, not expand, who is allowed to be human. Yes, you have set your limitation more inclusively than our fascist gang of white supremacists; it doesn't mean you're not also setting limitations & they'll use your limit as long as it serves them.
I can't trust politicians who are anti-trans. Not because I'm "only searching for perfection" which is what centrists will be accusing me of for the rest of my life, it's because if you're not pro-trans you'll be garbage on lots of other issues too. Being anti-trans NEVER exists in a vacuum.

Making these things un-turn-off-able is an extremely fundamental core component of the entire industry. It is the same reason you cannot choose between buying yoghurt with single-use plastic or without it.

You cannot fabricate demand for a wasteful, harmful thing without making it mandatory
