You know I had a lovely show full of people making terrible choices and many plot contradictions for the sake of maximum drama and trying to figure out how it was going to outdo itself each episode was an absolute genuinely delight. But now I am out of show and I need a new show like that. 😭

I do not know who decided that restaurants should be allowed to not disclose what dishes have alcohol in them, but I wish many many many eternities of stepping on legos on that person. 😭

All I did was dip a fry in the sauce. 😭 I only had however much fits on the tip of a small, thin little fry. 😭

A question: I'm going to be on the radio talking about SFF. I want to recommend a fantastic romantasy in among the others I will talk about but I'm not confident I know what to rec on that front. Any ideas? Ideally for people for whom this will be their first genre/romantasy novel

Today's Borb Wars appear to be at a truce for cold and wet weather. The feeder is looking very forlorn and birdless, though I did spot a few finches earlier in the day and admittedly it's not yet peak time for feeder shenanigans.

I'm going to do a little thread on how the money from books works for traditionally published authors because people have questions, and this is always useful info to share IMO. First, a big disclaimer that every contract is different, and there are a million factors that can change things. 1/

🧵 I’m in a similar boat to this thread. Does it suck to have FOMO on new releases? Yes, of course. That doesn’t make stealing okay. The art will still be there. And frankly so will the conversations because ime people, especially your friends, will be delighted to talk about them with you later too.
I think I have less tolerance for the "piracy is okay if you're poor" thing because I am very poor, I've had a few rough years in a row atop a few rough decades (I am possibly only breathing because y'all did that big fundraiser for my birthday last year, which I'm still paying vet bills with).

[collapse] I DID IT. I HAVE A ROUGH DRAFT OF THIS DAMNED ESSAY.

Now I get to rewrite the whole thing, again, so it's in some form of a shape to send it off to see if it's along the lines of what the request was. (It'll surprise no one it ends on a nicer variant of "Fuck amatonormativity", I'm sure)
November 24, 2025 at 1:48 PM
Seeing people suggest non-alcoholic variations in the comments and, I mean, do if you want, but please don’t make them your only alternative option. They may still contain enough alcohol to be a problem for your guests.
I do not drink because I have almost no tolerance for it anymore (one margarita is too much).

If you are hosting a party, I recommend also stocking:
-fancy ginger beer
-coconut water
-premium juices like lychee and guava
-apple cider with cinnamon
-Italian sodas
-sparkling water

Lots of options!

I’m sure someone smarter than me can write a really nice piece about how “but I’m poor and art should ne free so stealing art is fine” led to “but oh we poor billionaire tech companies can’t POSSIBLY pay people for using their work because it should be free to use for ANYTHING”.
