("It's your great-grandmother's turnip puff recipe!" my mother insists as I make a face and put a single tablespoon of it on my plate and try not to gag EVERY SINGLE TIME except now we're in the pandemic years and I no longer go anywhere. Tomorrow I get mashed potatoes and seitan chicken to myself.)

Also if you're lining up the dates at home, Waverly 4's takes place this weekend and tomorrow is Milton Family Thanksgiving and not even the worst thing that happens to Waverly that day.

It's just a low-key stat holiday where you maybe eat mashed potatoes with family and have to remember garbage collection is bumped by a day all week, it's not a big deal. There's pie and your mom nagging you to eat turnip even though you really don't like turnip, the end.

...sorry I've been off all day exhausted and trying not to have a nervous breakdown about my cat, and now Bsky Americans think Canadians are celebrating Columbus Day tomorrow because they don't know Thanksgiving occurs on a different date here??? Am I caught up?

I don't know how I'm supposed to de-stress the least stressed cat but sure we'll throw pheromones and supplements and prescription food at him. Maybe one day I accidentally only told him he was perfect nineteen times instead of twenty and so his bladder filled with blood, WHO KNOWS.

Autoship is great because I never even have to sign into the website to get pet food and then sometimes I remember to check if something is cheaper there and discover all the points added up from those autoships that I forgot.

Anyway this is why Shawn is going to try out three months of Feliway. 👀

I'd have to claim that as income on my taxes though, and that would mess up my medication deductible. I think Shawn should become a cam girl, however, because he doesn't have a social insurance number and I don't think CRA can come after a cat.

But yeah, no one gets Christmas this year, I'm just going to make cards with Shawn's face on them that say "For Christmas I got you Shawn's bladder no longer full of blood, you're welcome!" and leave it at that.

The GOOD NEWS is that out of all my borked organs, my kidneys actually work great AND I have two of them. The bad news is I have a feeling in the current economy I might not fetch a good price for one, so that is a less viable backup plan now.

Tacking on $40/month in Feliway and $40/month in calming supplements doesn't seem feasible and might not even work, but they are there on the wishlist should anyone like to try!

Libby's new steroid is another $113/month, Shawn's additional canned food is another $100/month, I don't know what drugs they want for him long-term, but the senior cats are all on meds too, and I've got nothing else to cut out of my monthly expenses to pay for everything, plus rent goes up in Jan.

At this point it's like "reduce his stress" and I don't know what to say, he doesn't HAVE stress, he's a little prince who is doted upon and no one dares picks on him, so do I spend another small fortune on calming supplements and pheromones when we don't even know if he's stressed???

We're okay for ridiculous vet bills this month (more are coming with senior checkups for two cats at the end of the month and probably more for Shawn) between my savings and generosity from folks for my birthday, but Shawn has a wishlist just in case.

Innocent of any and all charges, certainly has never done crime or stolen anything like his mom’s spot.
A long-haired black cat nestled in a bed against pillows and blankets. He looks extremely comfortable and like he’s not moving, even though for a human to lie with him, she will have to perch on the edge of the bed and risk falling off. She will do so for the sake of this beautiful, special, perfect cat, who is never done a bad thing ever in his entire life.
