Thanksgiving in Canada has nothing to do with Columbus!

We are a colonial country with a million things to atone for but Thanksgiving is not one of them.

Our Thanksgiving is timed with the harvest and it's literally just "Be grateful for harvest"

US Imperialism has brain rotted too many of you.

It's been tough going for small publishers for a while, but they continue to publish a lot of the most exciting new work, and are the main supporters of the short story as a form. Support indie publishing when you can!

Have you pre-ordered your copy of No Love Lost yet? By Jane Glatt, this is book 2 in the Wrap-It-Up Magic series!

Find it on Kobo: www.kobo.com/ca/en/e...

Get it in Kindle: www.amazon.com/dp/B0...
Book promo post for No Love Lost by Jane Glatt. The cover shows a home office, with built-in bookshelves full of books, plants, pictures, gift-wrapping supplies, and other knickknacks. On a small circular table sits a desk lamp with the light directed at an ornate, open jewelry box with its contents spilling out. A pearl necklace has broken and pearls have spilled over the table and onto the floor. On the floor, a black and white tuxedo cat wearing a hideous studded collar plays with ribbon and wrapping paper. Next to the cat is a stack of books and albums, on top of which is a gold, heart-shaped locket, which is broken in two. It matches a picture on the bookshelves, which is a pink broken heart. The colour tones of the cover are in soft pinks and lavendars. The title is No Love Lost in gradiated yellow, and the author is Jane Glatt. No Love Lost is part of the Wrap-It-Up Magic series.

Re-posting my very long appreciation thread from 7 months ago about the episode of Twin Peaks that Diane Keaton directed.

Short version: I think her work on this episode is very underrated!
connorratliff.bsky.social
February 9, 1991: Diane Keaton's episode of Twin Peaks airs. (S2E15)

It is often cited as one of the worst episodes of the entire series (I disagree -- I think S2E12 is the worst!) but I personally think Keaton's direction is fun.

I am gonna do a thread now of GIFs & clips, all from that episode.

A collage announcing a knitting collaboration inspired by a medieval dragon. In the top left, a blue and gold dragon curls beside Gothic script from a 15th-century manuscript (Harley MS 1662). To the right, two skeins of yarn — one cream, one vivid sapphire blue — are shown with fern and pearl accents. Below, a pair of colorwork mittens display the dragon motif in blue and cream against a rustic wooden background. Center text reads “NEW COLLAB ALERT!” with a small green dragon icon. Additional images show close-ups of the yarn and the finished mittens, whose intricate patterns mirror the medieval illumination.

It's also why some of my friends writing urban fantasy (and trying to explain to the readers that it's urban fantasy, not paranormal romance) have needed to have the main male character(s) repeat back the feelings of the main heroine that she just said so that they'll "believe" those feelings.

It’s a big “book boyfriend” thing as well. They replace and erase the FMC so they can have whatever toxic asshole is the hottie du jour. Can’t do that in third because it’s so clearly not the reader that’s narrating. The actual FMC and her role in the story doesn’t matter.
