I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

once I got my degree I took the summer off because my brain was crispy, and then I took two semi-decent jobs to make ends meet, and then my current boss emailed me to ask if I wanted to come in for an interview at my old university
