COMMENTARY: FireSmart skeptics: busting myths and fallacies
Over the years, people have shared with me their frustrations concerning either their neighbours, co-owners of duplexes or condos, and even their own spouse, when it comes to FireSmarting and notably cutting down coniferous trees.

Danielle Smith lies.

And then she uses those lies to justify laws that are against the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Don't ever forget that.

From the sworn affidavit by the former AHS CEO Athana Mentzelopolous…

In which she states the value of the contracts afforded to MHCare were almost $1 billion.

And that Jitendra Prasad was consolidating power and control over contracts.

In B.C., an ostrich farm is resisting the CFIA's order to cull 400 birds after an avian flu outbreak.

This is my explainer on avian flu and the antibody research the farm has been participating in and trying to use as a reason to avoid the cull. thetyee.ca/News/2025/05...

Michael Ignatieff once warned: democracy dies when we treat adversaries as enemies.

On May 5, Premier Danielle Smith gave Albertans a speech that leaned heavily into that danger.

A 🧵 on factionalism and democratic decline.

True lies on the Poilievre campaign trail

Sorry, @kevinmkruse.bsky.social, but this "quote" is at least misleading. The text above was said by someone about what the person pictured said.

Misinformation isn't helpful, no matter the intention.

This fencing event was the cherry blossom open that takes place every year in Maryland. It’s an OPEN, meaning folks fence off against everyone of all ages and it’s not divided by gender. My brother made a grown woman cry at this event one year when he fenced her.
RIP to your 401k but at least we're finally talking about the real issues facing ordinary Americans

To be super clear:

CTV Your Morning *approached* @rachelgilmore.bsky.social to do a weekly segment

CTV announced on *national TV* she would be returning each week

Then CTV *cancels* her segment after Poilievre’s staffer denounces the announcement on X

pressprogress.ca/ctv-cancelle...
Absolutely shameful that CTV caved to a disingenuous right-wing pressure campaign instead of standing their ground. It presents even more red flags about the state of the media in Canada.

@rachelgilmore.bsky.social did not deserve to be treated this way.
NEW: CTV cancelled a fact-checking segment in response to political pressure from Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives

An audio recording obtained by PressProgress shows CTV cancelled an ‘election misinformation’ segment with journalist Rachel Gilmore after online backlash from conservatives

This is one of the best statements in the legislature in a very, very long time. It has the added benefit of being 100% accurate.

Well worth your time.

Thanks, David.
Danielle Smith claims flying to Florida to pose with Ben Shapiro is “going into the lion’s den”.

The truth is, it’s a trip to a Republican safe space, a far-right fundraiser & more about pumping the Premier’s ego than promoting Alberta.

Albertans shouldn’t be on the hook to pay for it. #ableg
