I love my neighborhood. Owls in stereo: one on each side of the house cooing in the courtship of fall. 2 young coyotes slink around. Sometimes they like to howl together, and sometimes one of them likes to go to the culvert and howl with a lot of reverb. It’s quite funny.

Why is #GlobalWarming fundamentally a "rate of change" problem? It's happening very fast relative to most natural episodes of climate warming and cooling on Earth, and too quickly for ecosystems & societies to easily adapt. Therein lies the problem. www.youtube.com/watc...
Why is global warming a "rate of change" problem? It's happening too quickly for us to easily adapt.
The main reason why global warming is such a big problem is that it's happening extremely rapidly in a geological context--much faster than most other natural warming and cooling events in Earth history. The climate is now warming so quickly, in fact, that it's becoming increasingly difficult for bo

So shocked and devastated that my neighbor Dr. David “Spotacus” Benaron has suddenly passed away. We were parents at the same time and worked on creating a great play park. He was so helpful in every way. I loved meeting him on a walk and standing to talk for an hour or more. Bless you, David ❤️❤️💔
@spottacus.org passed away last night. I'm destroyed. I'm distraught. I can't breathe over the tears. I love you forever hun.

One good thing about today in Los Angeles is that the mainstream media was onsite *before* the police started rioting.

So many news crews saying "the crowd here in LA is totally peaceful" right before LAPD and LA Sheriff started shooting and trampling people

Left in the icebox; you were dumb

It relies on countless government employees, a massive network of sensors, tens of thousands of weather balloon launches—to record a stunning 6.3 billion observations/day

Now that system is being taken apart, piece by piece
