If you have started following me, I'd love you to read one of my novels. Even my kids' books are pretty good. I recommend my post-Macbeth trilogy 'A Crown of Blood and Honour' which has Outlander vibes. (btw, I wrote b4 hers)

Heading to Waihōpai (Invercargill) then driving up to Wyndham for the day.
VERY early start (5am!) but looking forward to meeting new teachers who are keen to learn more about mātauranga Māori and teaching Shakespeare/teaching writing to kids.

Today's ADHD distraction hyperfixation is:
I trimmed the hedge at the back of our property because
it was really overgrown
and
I've lost the cat
and the pōtiki thought she was the cat run over as noted on community page
but
I couldn't see in the hedge
cos
too overgrown

It's not now.
Cat is well

My therapist suggested I WRITE FIRST and THEN go onto social media/listen to the news/listen to podcasts/read the news/send emails/pay bills/feed the cat/walk the dog/tidy the house/finish watching that episode from last night....

Sheesh.
What does she know?

Mayor of Kingstown is so good and so hard to watch. The writing is fantastic. Every line punches.
But, being confronted with the utter evil inside people can be dispiriting.
Watch but be warned: it's violent and cruel and, at times, depressing

never thought I'd get to a stage in my life where having a shower (and/or getting dressed) is seen as a win

also, tinnitus so loud I want to remove my head
low level pain humming louder as each hour progresses. Hard to settle; hard to use my hands; feel my irritations rising too. I had plans, dammit. PLANS.
Was gunna knock out at least four scenes and get ready for the week.
Now just want to hide under the duvet

Spent a lot of time telling budding (and actual) writers that I don't like writing (much). I say 'I hate writing; I love having written.'
Currently, in a warm moment of joy working on WIP but this is a reminder to all creatives

Last night, heavy downpours here in Lincoln. Vet Girl's cat hates storms. She howled for me all the time. I was half asleep but even then still talking back to her 'it's okay/come here/I'm here/you're safe/it's fine/you're okay/puss puss/'
No wonder I feel so tired

One particular striking dream was of the principal who excluded my child (for self harm). In my dream (nightmare), she was 'friends' with us now & was all friendly (even kissed me on the cheek). She took the child out to lunch & then we found a box of things of the child that we'd thought lost. 1/2
Awful dreams all night...
Echos of all the times the powerful have hurt me or my loved ones.
The overwhelming sense of utter disbelief at the denials, the lies told in attempts to silence me...
These news reports are too triggering

I've spent the past two days visiting three high schools & hanging out with a number of the most incredible teachers. I am gutted some of the time to no longer be in the classroom but it was utterly delightful witnessing the joy of interaction between kaiako and akonga.
