The Ravens do battle today on the birthday of Edgar Allan Poe. Will someone in Baltimore please get to the Westminster graveyard before game time and pour a decent bottle of cognac over the man's stone? I am regrettably in the wrong city or would attend to it.

Losing? Nevermore quoth the bird.

A stunner from @dvnjr.bsky.social and me: Bill Belichick is not a first ballot Hall of Famer. He didn't get elected this year. The 8-time champion failed to 40 out of the 50 votes required for induction.

I don't think so. The Patriots are very popular. In fact, I'd bet a decent percentage of people in *Seattle* -- whether they admit it or not -- are going to be actively rooting for the Pats. Maybe 30-40%.
definitely not the whole country. not even close. with the mood in the country, Seattle will be the People’s choice.

Deleted Tiktok yesterday. Only videos remaining are of fake plumbers telling people not to drip their faucet like *this* (the normal way) and instead drip it like *this* (faucet just wide open).

Was the 3rd string QB (who still started 7 games) on the worst team in NFL history, the 2008 Lions. Was never top-32 in his position. More interesting to review: out of the 700+ QBs to start a game at QB since 1966, where in the 700s he is.

Never forget that the reason they are so convinced you’re all getting paid is that they are all getting paid.
The fact that every right winger with influence screams "who is paying for all of this" tells you exactly how awash in cash they all are, and how much they rely on that to keep their movement afloat.
James O'Keefe says he's never seen anything so organized as the anti-ICE movement, observers--he seems to think this term is code--everywhere he goes. Who is paying for it??? he demands to know. It's like he can't even imagine people caring for one another.

more people should watch FOR ALL MANKIND, the space drama that begins with a gripping alternate history 1960s space race and has now caught up to the 2010s, not by casting a new main character by simply making this one actor 10 years older every season
My god, look at Joel Kinnaman's old man makeup for the upcoming fifth season of For All Mankind:

Visited my pops this weekend and watched some Classic Dad Programming before the games yesterday: An episode of Quantum Leap, half an episode of The Brokenwood Mysteries (?), and the Mirror Universe scene from Dr. Strange (a fucking nightmare with motion smoothing on).

if capital can't justify the operating costs of a newspaper in every city over a few hundred thousand people (even though this worked profitably for decades) i think it's up to the federal government to fund them and if red states don't like a bunch of big city libs reporting on them, all the better
"The newspaper industry served as a feeder for our entire news media ecosystem. So when we lose those newspapers, we've lost that journalism. In the early 2000s, we had 40 journalists per 100,000 people. We're now down to 8 journalists per 100,000 people," says @victorpickard.bsky.social.
