The Joker in the best Batman film should be a cross between John Mulaney cira Kid Gorgeous and Anthony Jesselnik. He needs to be majority old timey showman vibes that suddenly crosses into terror

The top three here are centre right, hard right or far right. The most popular is the left wing candidate who doesn't get remotely as much media coverage/sympathy. Treated equally, yes, you will see popular politicians. Just not right wing ones.
I seriously wonder whether it is now possible in the UK for any politician to be truly popular or any government to be deemed successful

Matthew Goodwin objects to prosecuting this: ‘I think it’s time for the British to gang together, hit the streets and start the slaughter. Violence and murder is the only way now. Start off burning every migrant hotel then head off to MPs’ houses and Parliament, we need to take over by FORCE.’

Just remembered the "you either die a hero or live long enough to be the villain" quote from dark knight and for angry all over again. Just a nonsense line.

Every time I remember that there's a superhero deconstructionist comic called Power Fantasy I want to kick a bin.

Every now and then I think about X-Men 2 and how they built up Iceman. At the film's climax, a dam breaks and everyone is about to be engulfed by a huge wave. Of water. Which freezes notoriously easily. So of course they have Iceman sit in the jet while Jean Grey stops the wave.

Keeps me up nights.

Look it's obvious, but the delivery of "Lick My Love Pump" is one of the greatest comedy moments in history.
In honor of Rob Reiner, please tell me your favorite line-reading from THIS IS SPINAL TAP

There is a midpoint here, honestly. The most dangerous thing about driving is losing concentration, so the more things the car can do to free you up to make safety observations, the better. But these guys been so deskilled that without the tech they're basically a liability on the road.

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

In honour of Rob Reiner, have David Moore's thread on the best sword fight in movie history and exactly how nerdy it is.
As you may know, I have stopped using Twitter, and have decided to reproduce some of my more memorable threads here for posterity. Here’s one I hold wrote after a particularly engaging swordfighting lesson.

Buckle up, swordfighting fans, because I *have* studied my Agrippa!

Dreadful about Rob Reiner. I hope he knew how admired he was, how devastated people would be at his passing.

And man, talk about range! Princess Bride, Spinal Tap, Misery, A Few Good Men. Just quietly polymathing genres with hit after hit.

John Shea is a chronically overlooked Lex because he was in L&C. His monologue about his disappointed in himself he was because he had to kill someone was peak Lex
I came up with a theory last night that there are two types of Lex Luthors we generally see on screen: Weird Little Guy Lex and Kinda Hot Actually Lex.

Movies tend towards Weird Little Guy and TV shows tend towards Kinda Hot Actually starting with John Shea in Lois and Clark...

I mean the obvious answer for me is Superman so I'll leave that out for this question.

I'd love a crack at Power Rangers, which ticks all my boxes of superheroism, angsty teens, kaiju and mecha. Babs Tarr would would kill on that book.
Okay, you get to write ONE dream comic mini-series, featuring characters you did not create.

What character would you pick, and who would draw it?

When are we to expect newspaper front-page interview features with Dr. Beth Upton about her two-year ordeal of having her right to anonymity removed and her name dragged through the mud and being decried as a sexual predator only for a tribunal to clear her and find SHE was discriminated against?

It says a lot that AI “artists” are so creatively bankrupt they think writing prompts is a difficult, arduous task.

You realize coming up with a prompt is what a real artist would call “having an idea,” right?

It took them weeks of sleepless nights to have some basic thoughts.
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'
