Why does this look like the many hands of the Kaiser of the Dark, an underGod from beneath our universe, rising to sate its terrible hunger with the land and slake it's thirst with the seas?

Quote with your queer characters.

I loved every second of making comics. Here's to Olivia and Sarah.

Superman hates ICE. Not because he's an immigrant, which he is, but because they're irredeemably evil.

Why does this bust in an old stately home look like Jeremy Allen white?

As good a modern, Year One story for Superman as you'll get, @markwaid.bsky.social 's and Leinil Yu's Superman Birthright had at least five "hell yeah" punch the air moments off the top of my head. A strong, compassionate Clark, a broken, haunted Luthor and a pitch perfect Lois.

I loved @gregrucka.com 's run, especially how he used Mr Mxyzptlk as a surrogate for himself (my theory, unconfirmed!) Mxy talks about knowing the future because he is the writer, existing dimensions above Superman himself and able to see it all. But he loves Big Blue so much he has to earn him.

@gregpak.net 's entire run on Superman was fantastic, a kind, decent man who took no crap and which forefronted one big principle for Superman that's key to how I think of him - never punch down. This issue where he stands with a minority community against a brutal police force is a standout.

Harvests of Youth by @sinagrace.bsky.social is a beautiful, sad and uplifting story of a young, modern Clark Kent. Excellent updates of Clark, Lex and Lana in what feels like what Smallville would be if it aired today.

Superman Smashes the Klan by @geneluenyang.bsky.social is a perfect entry point for newer fans, showing what Superman stands for through a crucial lens that's often ignored - that he's an immigrant. And he has no tolerance for hatred and bigotry. Gorgeous art by Gurihiru.

Getting this one out of the way. It's clichéd to say All Star Superman for a reason. It's a perfect story, with the Superman thesis summed up by this one page. What if the most powerful man in the universe was also the most kind? A spiritual hug to a generation that needed it.

From The Glasgow Wrap. Interesting contrast between how the top group and bottom group are treated, regarding flags and incitement to violence.

Teenage (and 39 year old) me liked shonen manga, but at 16 I got pulled into the emotional drama of Nana and got a look at comics outside of fights and costumes. And they were pretty spectacular.

I liked comics before I read this, but this is when I knew I was a lost cause. A comics guy till the end of my days. Still the best team book ever written.
