You'd think the BBC would be aware of the Streisand Effect.

Either they aren't, or someone at the BBC is *very* aware of it and deliberately exploiting it.

The line in question is @rutgerbregman.com calling Trump "the most openly corrupt President in American history" in case you hadn't heard yet.
The important bit about this story - in reality the only important bit because nothing here is new - is that it delivers to an audience previously unaware of it a truth about the BBC's relationship to power: craven. www.theguardian.com/media/2025/n...

Everyone in the press is obsessed with the same framing again and again where the "gender criticals" get a free pass to say whatever they want, dehumanise people as "trans ideology" or as the BBC now loves to do, refer to one minority by how they were born. No trans voices. Ever.

I would urge the same in Scottish courts.
It remains my recommendation for anyone with even a passing interest in the law or the criminal justice system to spend a couple of days sat in your local magistrates court and watch what goes on. I would be surprised if it didn't affect your views.

What gets me about both the reporting and the judge's language is that even supposing "gender ideology" is some sort of religious belief, you would be more respectful of someone's religious belief than this. "..born Robert Prevost but now identifying as 'Pope Leo'".
They keep fucking editing the article, but it's not any better. And this addition about why the judge referred to her as "them" is like a parody of impartiality

I hope folks realize that between Trump, Kushner, Hegseth, Witkoff, Noem, RFK, Jr., Kash Patel, and Tulsi Gabbard, this country is almost entirely undefended.
Q: Have you heard this audio that Bloomberg has of Witkoff coaching the Russians on how to appeal to you?

TRUMP: That's a standard thing. He's gotta sell this to Ukraine, he's gonna sell Ukraine to Russia. That's what a dealmaker does. I haven't heard it but I heard it was standard negotiation.
