i think this is correct, is the only possible lesson to be learned (it will be learned one way or another), and is exactly why we need to be setting foundations for what comes after the whole world spirals away into the void
One of the biggest messaging mistakes we've been making is treating the American voter with respect. They deserve none. We need more slop served faster

Man I'm pretty drunk but I sure do love America

All its low-down dirtiness and cosmopolitism and revolutionary ideas about souls created equal by God with the inalienable human right to rule themselves

This messy beautiful place. No one can talk me out of my love for this stupid fuckin country

Raskin: We are a big tent. We must be a huge, vast tent. I say this is a party that’s got room for Marjorie Taylor Greene if she wants to come over.

technology as ideology, the logic of a dynamic technical idea as the cornerstone of all history or (especially in pop science) nature itself. this is still developing, is widely believed, and the current fascism is a violent lashing out in response to its coming.
It feels like the idea of a technological singularity has infected so many ideas about what any kind of technology is or could be. Things can only be thought about in terms of a long arc of human history, in terms of disrupting and rewiring the meaning of human existence over and over for all time.

I think people really need to prepare themselves for the possibility that the totalizing slop techniques pioneered by MAGA will outlast MAGAs political relevance

You criticizing them for living online just shows you don’t grasp information warfare. They’re out there acting as a digital warrior, running constant recon, pushing counter-signal ops, holding the line while you pretend scrolling is a character flaw.

the close track between men and women is particularly striking
Those claiming Dems should retreat on racial justice aren't hard-headed realists, they're pushing against the electoral tide rather than leaning into it. The story of Gen Z isn't about racist backlash or red-pilled young men. It's the most racially progressive generation in American history. 🧵

alphabet soup boiling in a pressure chamber
It just feels like everything is being flattened. Rape, genocide, wildfires, etc etc is all just fodder for internet discourse rather than turning points that lead to… something, anything better or different.
It’s so true. It’s actually horrifying to see the memes and jokes about this.

It's going to be so fun after midterms once we can start a series of impeachment proceedings over the sex trafficking

I was thinking about this exact thing yesterday at work
Every office has an executive tier whose emails are like:

saw on news , , can we replce complianc dept with web 3

and a worker tier whose emails are like:

Dear Jim,
First of all, I *love* this idea! Unfortunately, I spoke with Legal and identified a few issues with this approach. For starters…
Well, it's a little clearer now why billionaires are so invested in technology that produces better written emails.

brian greene, pop-science fascism theory validated yet again
What do we make of this email, sent from Epstein to himself a week before he was arrested with the subject line “List for Bannon Steve” with just a list of names.

did trump live in epstein's house or something like half of these emails are about him somehow
Jeffrey Epstein: "Have them ask my houseman about donald [Trump] almost walking through the door leaving his nose print on the glass as young women were swimming in the pool and he was so focused he walked straight into the door."

Dec 2015: Wolff to Epstein 'blackmail him!'

Mid-2016: Wolff gets full access to the Trump campaign and then White House.

the data centers *create* the seventh circle of hell for us to live in, in a sorta chicken/egg situation. either way it's fucking cold out.
Obviously data centers should be in the 7th circle of hell, since Dante explained it's freezing there because it's the furthest place from the warmth of God.

this sounds awfully familiar
my strong suspicion is that dems believe they’ll coast to major gains in the midterms no matter what, and their awful posture right now on all the horrors is less about winning next november and more about what they’re rhetorically committed to do should they win

I have personally seen this being argued, but only in bluesky comments, which are no stranger to being totally deranged
I mean yes, if this had been anyone's argument instead of something I've literally never heard anyone say that would be pretty crazy
People arguing the win condition was keeping the government shutdown until the midterms are flatly insane imo

like seriously, if you think this body that has been reduced to a meeting of figureheads was ever going to save us, idk if you'll ever come to grips with the situation as it is. literally every democrat in congress, no exceptions, needs to be flushed out, nothing less than a whole-party reset.
after the whole biden era, not to mention everything since, if anyone still thought the democrats were a viable route forward for a positive future, i really don't know what to say to you
