The thing about Minnesota Lutherans is that while the U.S. military can deploy a functioning Burger King anywhere in the world in 48 hours, your local Mainline Protestant church's women's committee can do it in under 36.

Senate Dems needn’t come to agreement on everything right now. That’s a path to the lowest common denominator. They simply have to agree to filibuster DHS approps. As to which of a host of anti-brutality and anti-authoritarian proposals to advance, let a thousand flowers bloom.

Saying there must be trials isn't just an emotive aspiration.
Congress can:
- Create a new court (complying w/ 6A jury vicinage)
- Give it jurisdiction over defined category of crimes
- Also create dedicated prosecutors for the same
- Strip SCOTUS of appellate jurisdiction
It can be done.

I am having an extremely stressful week of work and I am fully planning to treat myself to reading this book as soon as it shows up on my Kindle.
Having been there for 49 Seasons live, lots of rebinges, and "knowing" Fishbach since 2009, ESCAPE! is spot on & a treat for any fan of the show. One hell of a novel. And then some.

I finally got around to calling my Congresswoman this afternoon about the DHS bill and realized after I got off the phone that she'd already voted. Stupid back-to-back meetings. But she did at least vote against funding.

I've said this before, but "america was always fascist" is simply not an effective messaging strategy for fighting an american fascist movement. you should not cede them control of the national identity! that's what they want!
People who say this are clearly speaking aspirationally about a shared American creed they hold dear. “Have you heard of the Trail of Tears?” is not a very helpful response, because they probably have and the priority right now is moral opposition to fascism and not fake-educating each other.
I fear my tipping point into madness is "Thus is un-American" posts in response to ICE terrorizing immigrants. I beg you to open Wikipedia (I would say a book but let's start small) and read up on The Trail of Tears, Fugitive Slave Catchers, Japanese internment, Indian Boarding schools & Jim Crow
