THREAD: I'll fact-check all the viral misinformation about the US military operation in Venezuela in this thread

This image, purporting to show the US military arresting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, is AI-generated.

According to Google's SynthID detector, it was created using Google AI.

Ok, everyone, what book is sacred enough to you to get sworn in on?
Strange takes on Mayor Zamdani swearing his oath on the Qu’ran. It has nothing to do with church & state. The point of the oath is for the person swearing in to do so upon some text that is sacred TO THEM. Some Presidents swore in w/o any book. John Quincy Adams was sworn on a law book. His choice.

more bus lanes
= more efficient bus trips
= more people willing to use buses
= less people driving on the roads
= roads are less clogged up
= people who have to drive can do it easier/quicker

I don't get how this is so hard
Under current govt rules, the only real way councils can keep bus fare increases down in Wellington is bus lanes. Because faster trips mean more services for the same cost. The city has doubled bus lanes in the last term. Pro public transport candidates must stop attacking this bus priority work. 4/

If only this were a regular service, priced for locals and commuters, rather than a one-off special service, inevitably at tourist rates. So.. next time? 😏

So it's ACT Party canon that schools should be able to opt out of the state-run education system and get all the funds to spend on their own 'thing'.

Very glad that the "Willows Walk" event was yesterday - sunshine instead of rain! A 2km ramble through ECan's Waimakariri regional park to look at how braided river and dryland ecosystems co-exist, and have been modified by flood protection works, including nature-based solutions.

Our region is collaborating to transform our water infrastructure. The cost of this is roughly $15-17 billion over the next 20 years. After the Government reversed the previous reforms, councils and rate payers were left shouldering this responsibility.
