Just a reminder that your local library has more than books! Many also have dvds, cds, video games, game systems, internet hot spots, streaming services, ebooks, audio books, park passes, museum passes, and so much more! Maybe it's time for a visit! ❤️📚

I didn't publish my first novel until this year. I'm 43.
EARNEST POST WARNING: It’s never too late to begin writing the thing that’s in your heart. It doesn’t matter if you sell it. It doesn’t matter if anyone ever reads it. You have brought into existence something from nothing. You can print it out and hold it in your hand. It’s real. You did that.

One of the things I was gifted this holiday was Steam game money. I don't necessarily have to overcomplicate this. I'm me, though, so I'm overcomplicating the whole thing. I spent several days sorting my games by priority, now it's Games Budget Math time. Calculator app, save me from overspending.

Social anxiety is so dumb like ah yes of course i can vent about personal things openly on the social medias. but id rather die than muster up the courage to send a dm to a friend (who does not hate me).

if you made art this year, you did well. a sketch, even if it was scrapped ; a poem, even if it was deleted — mattered. you put thought to paper, you engaged with the creative alchemy of turning feeling to something tangible. doesn't matter if you weren't productive "enough." or good "enough."

I had a better Christmas today than I've had in a few years, and one of the best parts was seeing how much the people I care about enjoyed the gifts I picked for them. My niece is too young to even know what a gift is or means, and she held the toy I got her all day. It was nice.

A reminder to the writers and creatives out there: down time is necessary. You can’t run on fumes. Just because you’re “off” one job, doesn’t mean you have to do all the things for the other job.

Me: I fully know what time blindness is -- after all, I often deal with the consequences of it in daily life.

Me, after talking to my therapist: So it turns out I knew less than I thought and have to use more time blindness aids than I realized. This is gonna be... interesting.

If there's one thing that makes me sad, it's indie writers, artists and musicians apologizing for promoting their own work

Please keep talking about your work forever, I love seeing it

HBO has declined to renew “Sesame Street” for new episodes. The series that’s been teaching generations of little kids since 1969 now has no studio.

Please consider donating to Sesame Workshop to ensure the residents of 123 Sesame Street are still around to teach kids of all needs and backgrounds.

I recommend writing down every big writing rule you hear and trying it.

Is it not possible for you to write every day? Then cross it out.

Does outlining make your stories stronger? Then keep doing it.

Explore your process. See what helps you. Build your tool kit.
Time to make people angry again!

- It’s okay if you don’t write every day
- First drafts don’t have to be crap
- You don’t have to outline
- You don’t have to use beta readers
- Sometimes telling instead of showing is fine

Fuck all the writing “rules” they tell you about. There are no rules.

I've been struggling with a lot of self-doubt recently. The usual stuff. But I read some good webcomic advice on Tumblr, and it helped me feel better: www.tumblr.com/kyssimmee/76...

Hello! I’m not really sure how to phrase this, but do you think it’s a good idea to start working on the script for a comic before the entire plot is finished? I just wanted to ask because I’m curren…

I feel this way with both drawing and writing most of the time. I want to create so badly, but I spend a lot of time not creating anything. I'm looking forward to when my efforts to figure that out pay off, and I can create again.

Sometimes I resent how hard it is for me to follow through with a book, even when I really like it. Then one book will suddenly click, I'll get so absorbed I read it everywhere I go, and it feels worth having waited. Books are good. I'm glad I put in the effort to read them.

Writers: yes, you are still a "real" writer if you
- have never published anything
- have no readers
- didn't write anything this month
- didn't write anything this year
- can't articulate words anymore
- can only float and mournfully wail
- were murdered ten years ago on this very spot

What’s so intoxicating about art is that despite the difficulty of creating it, the juice is worth the squeeze. It’s a struggle to make something from nothing! But the outcome - and even the journey - is worthwhile. It’s worth doing.

We write. We draw. We compose. We’re conjurers of possibility.
