Apart from the fact the leader of the right mocked Reiner, one small difference is that Reiner's day job was making movies that people loved, while Kirk's starting point was creating enemies list of professors to be fired or harassed. These are not the same things.

I saw (before this all went to shit) that a young R Reiner asked what the first line of his obituary would be. Considering his tragic death, disdain for Trump, and how this story isn’t going away - I wonder how he would feel if he knew how his passing would be weaponized by Trump. (& may backfire)

Our local news recently reported that a nonprofit is collecting toys for kids whose parents were deported. FB commenters were overwhelmingly negative. Many suggested ICE raid the toy drive and arrest the kids, too.
I hate that I’m now aware of how much of our country craves this sort of cruelty.
