Northerner. Husband. Dad. Pillock.

Not a real lightbulb. Or a turnip. Not that sinister. But I do stay largely anonymous on here to keep it separate from real life. Ally to anyone who would like it. Significant irritant of @ElisabethHobbes.co.uk.
Nice venue to be gigging in.

This is the crux of the issue. It’s not the tech itself. It’s that we’re basically selling fireworks to toddlers.
A HUGE part of the problem is that the "A.i." industry markets this tech as a flawless solution for everything - in search for example. The marketing implies "A.i." gives true answers when "truth" has nothing to do with its process and it consistently delivers bullshit. That's INCREDIBLY dangerous.

Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

The thing about "AI" is that before it became a marketing catchphrase by and for the worst douchebags you ever saw over the last few years, it was just a broad field of study that would periodically produce something that was narrowly useful, and it was Completely Fine, Actually.

Hey - there’s lots I could criticise - but they got rid of the 2 child cap - which is by far the most significant measure today.

So thats great ❤️

As usual - people don’t understand stuff…

When leasing prestige cars are often cheaper because of relative depreciation.

For example - back when I had a company car I actually wanted a Skoda. But the equivalent Audi was cheaper as a company lease.

So there’s that as well…
Might start asking people who object which of my clients should give their lease cars back. Jayne probably has the most expensive one, it’s basically a minivan. Admittedly she may need it what with the epilepsy and motor neurone disease and so on but she can walk to those hospital appointments right
Don’t want to be too moralistic about this, but it is an active disgrace what people are doing to a profoundly liberational scheme that costs relatively piddling amounts on the basis of a couple of right wing shitposters misrepresenting it on Twitter.

Ffs - this should hardly be a priority. Petrol costs are down
When can you declare an emergency over?

The 5p “emergency” petrol tax cut was introduced in March 2022, to offset a spike in prices

They are now about 30p down on that month, & about 50p down on the absolute peak

A wise thread…
A theory about vibes:

Human beings are deeply social creatures. Our need for a legible social order is rooted almost as deeply in our brainstem as our need for basic physical security. We need -- not want, need -- to understand who's in charge, who are allies, who are enemies, *how things work*.

Any fellow ‘children of the 80s’ - heads up…
In the UK? This is a total steal.

I feel seen. 😬
Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

#SundayPixOffTheBeatenTrack reminded me of this holiday we spent in the Aveyron region of France for the simple reason that we’d left it very late to book campsites on the coast. Apparently not many people go there. They should. Its lovely.

Proud Dad moment. Child number 1 has done his first solo flight. Big milestone and scary stuff :-). This is him and his lovely instructor doing the customary certificate ceremony.

UK’s problem is that we don’t have enough disposable income, which you can fix by things getting cheaper or by people earning more money, and also either one of those things makes the other easier.
