Indiana Republican senate votes down redistricting.

Trump failed at authoritarian consolidation and he's losing his grip on power.

We're going to win.

Stephen Miller is to blame for the evil ICE is doing. Trump is to blame for listening to Miller. The Republican party is to blame for supporting Trump. MAGA voters are to blame for re-electing Trump. There's enough blame for all of them to share.

Yes. This also applies to social issues. I'm so annoyed with anti-abortion people who claim that strict bans don't cause maternal death as a spillover effect because "there's a life of the mother exception." IRL, MDs are frequently arrest-adverse & don't want to argue with zealous prosecutors.
Yeah this has def been an evolution for me as well “markets” and “regulations” are just dumb things to have strongly held views about in the platonic abstract! They’re both social tools, the actual normatively substantive question is the outcomes they produce.
again, baby samantha absolutely thought that policy worked this way. "social problem? try regulation!" grown up samantha is living in the wreckage nimby regulations made of our cities and has different opinions.

He's such a whiney little shit. Healthy people don't do this.
Every part of this is bonkers. The intro is bonkers. The transition to his health is bonkers. The mention that other presidents didn't need cognitive exams is bonkers. The claim that this screening test is somehow hard is bonkers. The idea that criticism of him is treason is bonkers. All of it.

I think, in general, the level to which people have conflated “I personally support my friend” & “my friend suffering consequences for their actions is mean & maybe even immoral” in the post-MeToo/collapse-of-public/private-self-social-media-age is alarming.
It's wild how people are just openly say, "hey stop being mean, she's my friend."

Do that shit in private if you want but it's embarrassing to write a LinkedIn endorsement disguised as a literary essay.

I am not live posting the whole argument here because I want to listen closely to Trump v. Slaughter. But the solicitor general for Trump just said the point here in killing the independence of agencies like the FTC is that executive branch officers must “fear and obey” the president. Wow. #SCOTUS

NGL, the stories I've heard about DIY HRT for trans people feel the same as stories about DIY abortions. Turns out, if you try to restrict women's bodies, trans or cis, they'll do everything they can to steer for themselves. The luckier ones among them will create mutual aid networks.
What did you think would happen when you restricted access to care?

This is one of the reasons we always ask guests on @lingthusiasm.bsky.social how they got interested in their research topic: not only does this lead to fun stories, but it also leads to explaining the research process and leaves room for uncertainty
New study finds that public health messages that acknowledge uncertainty and explain the scientific process lead to greater perceived trustworthiness and understanding compared to basic fact-based messages.

Part of that it can be attributed to our press.

Seldom is there any citation to the constitutional language. Take the “third-term“ debate.

The 22nd Amd. language is only 14 words and could
not be more clear:

“No person shall be elected to the office of the president more than twice.”

"State's Rights" means "fuck the rights of *individuals*, I'm losing at the federal level and want to control what I can."
The "state's rights" folks were more than happy to have the Dred Scott decision tell free states they didn't have the rights to stop slavery within their borders or refuse to help slavers kidnap escaped people to be sent back into slavery.
