I am once again informing liberals well in advance of 2028 that I will not vote for this ghoul as president. Find a better nominee.
The presidency once served as a reminder of our common humanity. Ronald Reagan described its purpose as building "a nation composed of good and decent people."

1. trans rights are broadly popular
2. it’s the right thing to do
3. fighting is better politics than not fighting

of course it’s the right time, if such a thing exists, to fight for trans rights.

i mean it’s both. there’s a real burden on voters to deliver the opposition to power but then there’s a burden on the opposition to use that power appropriately for the task at hand. we are where we are in part because voters delivered them to power in 2020 and they catastrophically flubbed it.
okay but like the burden is literally on us

Siri, what happens when you fire all the Black and Brown smart people from newsrooms?
Analysis: Weeks before he set foot on the stage, Bad Bunny’s halftime performance had already become a media event.

But if you were looking for political commentary, the closest that you got was when he said “God bless America” in English.
Analysis | Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show was expected to provoke. Did it?
The Bad Bunny Super Bowl show nodded to injustices in Puerto Rico but mostly evoked wholesome family values that meshed with the more sentimental commercials.

Wife's family made a casual comment about their mild interest in the TPUSA halftime show. Immediately, my wife threatens to leave if they put it on.

I love my wife.

I mean, eat whatever you want, but why is it when right-wing politicians get these softball, relate-to-the-masses type questions, they so often say the weirdest shit?
RFK Jr on what he'll eat during the Super Bowl: "I am on a carnivore diet so I just eat meat and ferments, and I'm very happy with that. So I'm probably going to have yogurt."

Someone said Republicans are school shooters and Democrats are the Uvalde cops and man…
Democrats want commonsense reform for ICE:

End the roving patrols and racial profiling.

Take accountability and abide by the same rules as local police.

Masks need to come off, body cameras need to stay on—no secret police in the United States of America.

The reason the Constitution is cumbersome for what you want to do is that it was expressly written to prevent you from doing it.

Dems need to take a hard stance that ICE should be abolished regardless of who happens to be president.
Democrats may think they are softening the message when they say things like "Abolish Trump's ICE" but this is a mistake.

The qualifier of "Trump's" shows a deflection of Dem responsibility for perpetuating this agency and funding it.

I forget who said it, but someone on this site once said something along the lines of "the biggest mistake the left commits is being correct too quickly."
i feel for all the radical centrists out there now confronting the fact that their ideology was the one built in a bubble and formed by groupthink. with enough exposure to facts and logic they will, some day god willing, catch up to the left

the thing about “ICE needs training” is that Jonathan Ross was a ten year DHS vet and a firearms instructor

he’s the kind of guy they get training from

the whole institution is rotten, throw it out
Democrats officially going all in on the mealy mouthed “ICE needs training” narrative.

No. ABOLISH ICE.
WARNER: It used to take 5 to 6 months to get trained. They've now lowered the training period to 47 days. Why 47 days? Because Donald Trump's the 47th president. Tell me that's a rational approach

KERNEN: I'm not taking that bait

WARNER: Joe! You can't pick your facts

the only reason "abolish ICE" is seen as radical is that no one will say it but the far left. if every normie Democrat started saying it tomorrow it would move the overton window so far you'd have to squint to find it. my kingdom for leaders who understand they can shape public opinion.

I'm begging you to understand that the main problem with ICE isn't that they do do systemic violence in a unprofessional way, it's that they're doing systemic violence at all.
Before Trump, law enforcement were trained to behave professionally. At a traffic stop they would start with words such as "Mam, may I see your drivers license and registration."

ICE evidently trains their goons to start a stop with screamed profanity, quickly followed by violence.

This is what I meant when I wrote that "we can overthrow them with a union of care."
"At schools, volunteers are forming human chains as students and employees enter and leave, with whistles to blow if ICE shows up.

Volunteers—many of them moms already involved at their schools—divvy up tasks, such as delivering groceries to immigrant families..."

the reason people sometimes act madder at democrats than republicans when republicans do impossibly evil shit is the same reason why, if you hired an exterminator to handle a roach infestation and he showed up to feed and play with them instead, your first instinct wouldn’t be to yell at the roaches
