they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.

“Hypernormalization describes a state where a false, simplified, or surreal version of reality becomes so accepted as normal that people lose the ability or will to challenge it, even when aware of its untruth, often due to systemic inertia or lack of alternatives.”

Time to jettison @firefox.com
Mozilla has a new CEO and he just announced that Firefox will evolve into a modern AI browser. This is a good example of how management doesn’t understand its own user base and why they go out of their way to install Firefox on Windows, Android, iOS and other devices blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/l...

In the early 20th century most people did not embrace automobiles, they preferred existing transpo options but automakers forced their product down everyone's throat by dismantling street cars, etc. This is why it's important to LOUDLY and AGGRESSIVELY oppose ai at every opportunity.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

I considered writing a long carefully constructed argument laying out the harms and limitations of AI, but instead I wrote about being a hater. Only humans can be haters.

I am an AI hater. This is considered rude, but I do not care, because I am a hater.

What if MTA spent $70 million on operating and maintaining the system rather than guards to stop people from riding the subway that belongs to them

(Never mind how much is also spent on cops in the subway and their egregious overtime)

the post office is a public service. it doesn’t need to make money. public transit doesn’t need to make money. the library doesn’t need to make money. some things exist for the public good and we desperately need lawmakers to stop thinking about them in terms of capitalism. these are not businesses.

We are not guessing about this. There are a metric ton of studies of pilot program and they all show the same thing.
Universal Basic Income doesn’t make people stop working.
It makes people stop panicking.

Panicking about rent.
Panicking about bills.
Panicking about choosing between medicine and food.

A new study, based on a survey of 1,150 workers suggests that the injection of AI tools into the workplace has not resulted in a magic productivity boom and instead increased the amount of time that workers say they spend fixing low-quality AI-generated “work.”

AI ‘Workslop’ Is Killing Productivity and Making Workers Miserable
AI slop is taking over workplaces. Workers said that they thought of their colleagues who filed low-quality AI work as "less creative, capable, and reliable than they did before receiving the output."

my point is: you need to be an asshole against fascists weaponizing appeals to social niceties to crack down on “wrongthink” (which is btw extremely correct think)

and you need to tell people arguing for decorum and civility to shut the fuck up.
