Sometimes you have to say it out loud to appreciate how dire t all is:

The president just openly declared his plans to steal the midterm elections — in an interview with the former number two person at the FBI.
Trump: "These people were brought to our country to vote, & they vote illegally. The Republicans should say, we should take over the voting in at least 15 places. The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting. We have states that I won that show I didn't win. You're gonna see something in Georgia"

Breaking News: Rejecting decades of science, the chair of the federal panel that recommends vaccines for Americans said that shots against polio and measles — and perhaps all diseases — should be optional. The vaccines are credited with preventing disability and millions of deaths worldwide.
Vaccine Panel Chair Says Polio and Other Shots Should Be Optional, Rejecting Decades of Science
Dr. Kirk Milhoan, a pediatric cardiologist who leads the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, said a person’s right to refuse a vaccine outweighed concerns about illness or death from infectious diseases.

Calamity far beyond your borders...
The choice is impeachment and removal or calamity for the United States. I don't see how anybody watching Trump's speech in Davos can draw any other conclusion. He's a senile madman.

Yes, this is my overwhelming impression listening to it. He repeatedly demanded full ownership of Greenland, and made an explicit threat to punish the Europeans if they don't give in. He then threatened to punish Canada over its prime minister's speech!
If you're only reading headlines and see "Trump Says He Won't Use Force" it will give you a misimpression of both how bellicose this speech is and how dug in he is on Greenland.

The President of the United States appears to be getting regular IV infusions, the public doesn’t know anything about it, & the DC media evidently doesn’t care.

We are months into the mystery of Trump’s hands, the White House is lying, & I’ve seen a grand total of one serious news story about it.
Trump looked pretty rough today -- note that both of his hands are discolored

Remember when Fox News settled a defamation suit for $800m because it lied about the 2020 election and then all the Fox News watchers kept watching it?

Neither the New York Times nor the Washington Post published stories about Trump writing 200 unhinged posts on Christmas Day
You almost have to feel bad for an ugly old man with no family or friends to keep him company on Christmas Day that he makes 200 crazy posts ranting about everything under the sun.

Almost.

This is why it’s so important to trace things back to the beginning whenever possible.

I believe @rauchway.bsky.social calls these “historical urban legends”
looking up the source of quotes, whether for a book or a video script, is great for figuring out when a quote everyone "knows" and has repeated for ages is actually just weird bullshit someone else made up

It seems to me that Trump has already been totally “normalized” by virtue of having been twice elected president. There is no going back.

That Trump and Trumpism are fascist doesn’t explain the sheer vandalism of unleashing mass murdering mayhem via RFK to replace medical/scientific institutions of immense value and prestige with medieval peasant superstitions. That is a criminal madness facilitated by but above and beyond fascism.

I had a great time talking Parker, Stark, and Westlake with a new Parker-focused site, Tough Business. We’ve needed a Parker site since Trent Reynolds idled his Violent World of Parker, so it’s good to see that gap being filled.
New interview over on Tough Business, our Richard Stark's Parker website! @lilyslabo.bsky.social & I had the pleasure of interviewing @levistahl.bsky.social about the University of Chicago Press editions, Parker's enduring appeal, & much more! Link below:

2) Call that artificial intelligence.

3) ??????

4) Digital genie that can do anything.

Hype and planning for step 4, all relying on the assumption that step 3 will just sorta happen if we throw money and compute at it.

These are choices. Editorial framing is a choice. Points of emphasis are a choice. Placement is a choice.

Someone high up at NY Times decided that the Trump-Epstein story is about how Trump’s cooperating and working to disclose info. They chose to paint a picture that is the opposite of accurate.
