yes, the concept of 'no quarter' is in point of fact, illegal.
also, we are not at war.
the 'war on drugs' isn't an actual legally declared war.
even if these were 'drug runners' and not people fishing, it's still murder.
My country needs to join an international court and be subject to it.

The biggest myth in academics and science generally is that there are men who are too smart or important to be punished. DNA structure absolutely would have been discovered around the same time without Watson. There are always teams behind every famous individual. No one is uniquely indispensable.
I refuse to believe that Larry Summers' expertise and skills are indispensable in any way. Please find another economist and policy expert, @americanprogress.bsky.social. There are loads out there.

This is the thing that drives me insane. Things aren't normal; this isn't politics as usual. And when you accurately describe everything this administration is doing, it's so lawless, radical, and authoritarian that *you* sound like a partisan extremist.
seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous
