Two things stand out about this picture:

1. a political leader embracing rather than demonising asylum seekers;

2. the beautiful clothes the Afghan girls are wearing, and which they are free to show in public.
It’s not where we come from that counts, it’s about where we’re going.

Great to meet Afghan Scots children at Maryhill Burgh Halls and hear a lovely rendition of Robert Burns.

Saturday night... I start work late. Good. But I have church duties so actually it's my earliest start of the week. Curses.

When I said she was the new D.H. Lawrence, I didn't anticipate the "being banned by the British Government" part being true too.
This does line up with my theory that she is the new D.H. Lawrence in that everyone ignores the class consciousness stuff for the emotionally fraught dirty parts.

Another appointment with my singer shortly. Pray for me. Mind you, it's queer poetry after that. Never a dull moment for the churchwarden

Wow. Only in America
I’ll spare you the rest of Trump’s statement where he calls Tim Waltz the R-word & hate mongers immigrants—

On a day meant for gratitude, he ranted about “vermin,” & vengeance. It’s the clearest reminder yet — there is no moral bottom too low or autocratic line he won’t cross

Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

May God grant that ridiculous jazz records continue to emerge from the vaults, whether by accident or design (IT'S INVARIABLY BY DESIGN, SHEEPLE)
Today I listened to the "new" Horace Silver record. Live in Seattle. 1965! WHAT A YEAR.
Woody Shaw and Joe Henderson.
It's brilliant

Why would the Chancellor mention the Greens at all unless Labour was running scared? Reform will win the next election, unfortunately, but the Green Party will take loads of seats off Labour (a good thing, as it might encourage Labour to come up with new ideas. Who remembers new ideas!)

Three more school contemporaries who claim to have witnessed Nigel Farage’s alleged teenage racism have rejected the Reform UK leader’s suggestion that it was “banter”, describing it as targeted, persistent and nasty.

Nothing direct. JUST BANTER.
"My most vivid memories of my school life is Farage repeatedly coming up to me, knowing that I was Jewish, saying 'Hitler was right' and 'gas em' and that was frequently followed by imitating the sound of escaping gas."

Peter Ettedgui, ex classmate of Reform UK Leader Nigel Farage.
