There have been many, many wild 24 hour news cycles in the Trump era but this one that began with Trump threatening to execute members of Congress and ended with him having a love fest with Mandami and MTG resigning is certainly up there. Solid Top 20 effort by the writers.

One thing that is tough about rapid response/patrols, besides constantly being threatened by armed secret police, is that for the most part they see the defeats. There are exceptions, but you’ll never know how many people were saved by slowing feds down, whistles, community alerts, etc.

We've never had a weaker president. Trump's so weak on Russia he makes Biden look tough

Propublica has been indispensable reading for years, now
NEW: Federal prison workers are jumping ship & heading to ICE for better pay + bonuses. Already BOP lost >1400 people this year, reversing all of 2024’s staffing gains. It’s an unintended consequence of Trump’s push for mass deportations

My 1st for @propublica.org

As Federal Prisons Run Low on Food and Toilet Paper, Corrections Officers Leave in Droves for ICE
Many of the problems the agency is facing now are not new, but staff and prisoners fear an exodus of officers could make life behind bars even worse.

It’s absolutely crazy that the White House decided back in February that it gets to choose who makes up the press pool each day and everybody just decided to go along with that.

This country is such a fucking joke.
White House has picked very pro-Trump pool reporters for Trump's Oval Office meeting with Mamdani on Friday: TV is Fox and Newsmax; Print is Washington Times and The Telegraph; New Media is Megyn Kelly. Exception is Radio: AURN (whose Black, female correspondent Trump called obnoxious in September)

My dream would be to have this setup but then to have a bunch of nonexperts dictating what the experts can and can't discuss with the students who are there to learn from and engage with them, has anyone come up with a system like that?
Thinking a lot lately about the simple fact that college allows people to spend about 15 weeks immersed in a disciplinary conversation with an expert in that field. And what a special thing that is.

In the very early days of Nazi rule local law enforcement would sometimes intervene if a local was being threatened by Nazis acting unlawfully. There was still an idea that the law mattered. That didn’t last long.

Not saying things will get that bad here but we seem to be in a similar stage.
First of all, this judge is a hero.

Secondly, my god this is egregious conduct. Imagine being this judge, driving this poor kid home, only to have ICE threaten to smash your car windows on your way out of the lot??

Just saw this today. This is a transparent attempt to KILL DUE PROCESS by lying about the job of immigration judge and stacking the deck through hiring only bloodthirsty lawyers who want to deport people.

This comes after they pushed out over 100 judges deemed too likely to grant relief.
DOJ is now recruiting for immigration judges by calling them “deportation judges.”

That’s seems really bad.

WHOA. The FBI was/is spying on a Signal chat for a New York immigration court watch group, claiming they were “anarchist violent extremist actors.”

Your reminder that the government is watching and don’t say anything in a big group chat you wouldn’t say on TV.

I have seen this in several places and thought it was worth keeping in mind
We would do well to remember the Russian operation on Trump has long used the ME as a bypass (and I still wouldn't be surprised if the Egypian bribe was a pass-through), especially w/Witkoff and Dmitriev at its center.

Attacking the judge hearing your case by lying about what he said about you means you're confident of a favorable ruling, right? /s/
DOJ & Halligan attack Judge Nachmanoff. But he did not call Halligan a puppet. He asked the defense if its legal position was that Halligan had been acting as a stalking horse or puppet--doing a vindictive president's bidding. (Which she almost certainly was.)

Exactly. And I have never heard a Dem say otherwise. (My luck someone will now find an example.) But I'm happy I can say that, in every soundbite I've heard on TV, in every exchange I've seen online, Dems are the same: justice for the girls completely outweighs partisan concerns
