@govdanmckee.bsky.social: "My budget will fully close RIPTA’s remaining $14M deficit..."

Also McKee: "My budget will roll back last year's gas tax increase..."

The gas tax increase is helping to fund RIPTA though! RIPTA receives 11.75 cents in tax revenue on every gallon of gas! 🚌

Friends, let us renounce the whole spectrum of violence, from aggressively filming ICE agents to driving slowly away from them.

A study in Science reveals an extensive precolonial agricultural landscape in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, suggesting Indigenous American communities cultivated maize intensively between 1000 and 1600 CE, despite a cold climate and marginal growing conditions. https://scim.ag/49voBGO
Archaeological evidence of intensive indigenous farming in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, USA

Mr. Rogers' famous advice to "Look for the helpers" was meant to help parents comfort kids in a terrifying world. For adults, there's an implied second part: ...And if you can, be one yourself.

This is my experience in Providence tonight. I have gotten no official communication; I have gotten updates from friends and via media sources, and #onhere.
What is mind blowing me as a person living in Providence is that I found out about the shooter via word of mouth vs an emergency text alert.

Just an unimaginable scene unfolding in our own backyard at Brown University. Please be safe neighbors.

I'm late to @johannawinant.bsky.social's wonderful essay. I love her practical, tactile guidance to students: "Point to a detail, one that’s really on the page and small enough to fit under your finger." Then you work out how that detail works with other details. Then you learn to make an argument.
