The amount of time and psychic energy I've spent on figuring out our healthcare going into next year has been engaging and revealing.

The lack of widespread anger says to me that a lot of folks do not understand what is about to happen
I don't expect them to operate with compassion but it's like the ideology has totally hijacked even their most dim sense of political survival

Now let’s see the % that gets drug testing? But let’s stay on topic. How inhumane to deny people sick days!
96% of the highest-paid workers in the US have paid sick days.

Just 38% of the lowest-paid workers get them — including the thousands of retail workers working this holiday weekend.

Only in America do we call working people ‘essential’ but deny them paid sick leave.

Could not agree more.
Pete Hegseth is right: Mark Kelly shouldn't be a senator.

He should take Hegseth's job and be SECDEF.

I'll be on MSNOW at 4pm to talk more about it.

I’d just like to add to this; Everyone could comprehend Zohran’s speech. It was excellent in every way.
Here's another bit of conventional wisdom Zohran completely blew away: His speech was at well above a 10th-grade level. It was complex, erudite, punctuated by deep and fluent references. You don't have to condescend to voters with baby talk! Part of re-establishing norms is speaking like an adult.

Boy, North Carolina Republicans sure don't want the attached story to circulate. I sure hope that this stupid threat from their spokesperson doesn't boomerang on them and have a lot more people read and share the story, which once again, is conveniently attached below. That would be a shame.

SNAP exists because politicians take campaign contributions from large corporations in exchange for letting those corporations pay a poverty wage so low that it must be subsidized with taxpayer money, paid by middle class workers barely getting by—all so 700 billionaires can have a few extra billion

Thread. In a smaller way, I did this when I came to Bluesky and decided not to be the guy who got into arguments here, like I had been on the former Twitter. That choice has done rather a bit to make Bluesky generally a better place for me to be, and, I hope, a better hang for others here too.

Today, the U.S. faces one billion+ dollar climate/weather disaster on average every 2w. That's a massive increase from one every 4m in the 1980s.

This is 'global weirding' and people are taking notice!

The government told NOAA to stop tracking these events: but @climatecentral.org is on the job.
