I’m more soul and funk than I am punk and metal. But the Americana/folk artists I gravitate towards tend to have more in common with Sierra Ferrell than Jesse effing Welles (who I maintain is a poser). It’s partly due to the politics - ie they have some. But this article suggested another reason:

They don't care, they only have to appeal to their base to retain power. They believe they have successfully rigged the system such that the executive branch holds all the power, and that a Republican will be sworn in on January 20th, 2029 regardless of how people vote.

Makes me recall a clip I saw of Joe Rogan enthusiastically forcing an musician to listen to genAI music he'd prompted as he heaped praise on the model that had generated it.

The musician responded, "What about AI podcasts? They have those, now."

No prizes for guessing how Joe reacted.
it’s come to my attention that my tumblr post has been crossposted to bluesky, so I’m posting it on my account here #AntiAI #GenAI

I'll go farther: making art and theater accessible to children creates art and theater-loving adults who, in turn, support art and theater. It's so freaking healthy for a society to do this!

The ICE agent who shot Marimar Martinez in Chicago tried to goad her out of her car.

He said “do something b*tch” and shot her 5 times.

The ICE agent who shot Nicole Renee Good did the same thing. Stood right in front of her vehicle and yelled “f*cking bitch”.

They hate women & it shows.

Renée Good's last seconds alive with the man about to shoot her remind me of Elijah McClain saying, "You are beautiful and I love you" before he was killed. We have to end this brutality.

they didn’t leak it to make the shooter look innocent, but to make the victim look guilty. not guilty of a crime. guilty of having a visibly queer wife. guilty of liberalism. guilty of opposing the regime. they don’t seek to exonerate themselves, only to demonstrate who deserves to die.
In the video that the shooter took, which I believe was leaked to be exculpatory, he appears to yell “fucking bitch” after he shoots Renee Good.

Based on what I'm seeing, I am thinking about how right-wingers get riled up in moments like this, and the ways that can be dangerous. They turned Heather Heyer's death into a meme about striking protesters with cars, and in 2020, vehicular attacks on protesters surged.
