If the punishment for a crime is a fine, it's legal for rich people.
A dude giving me an estimate on moving me told me that a super wealthy dude in the area had a zoning permit for one story but built three instead and he just pays the $10k+ in fines to the town every year.

Even though I'm largely ignorant about it, hearing about people transitioning makes me very emotional? It reminds me of all the hope and possibility and realization I felt getting sober and I wish that for everybody.

this is very funny, but to be earnest for a moment: the same guys setting $10M on fire here are the ones who can’t stand the idea of buses being free, of rent being affordable, of anything at all being easier for all the people for whom $10M would be an unimaginably transformative amount of money
