Once again: Focusing on their lack of training is a mistake. With "better training," their violence would simply cost more, and they would still kill whoever they wanted, but make it look more professional — to make people more comfortable, the way many of you are at ease with local police violence.

bro that’s how policing works for black neighborhoods tho
I understand why people dislike cops. But it's very important to recognize that ICE and DHS are not conducting themselves as cops. They are conducting themselves, at various moments, as an omnipresent secret police, and as a completely unaccountable invading army. Totally separate from policing.
ICE is not law enforcement, they are not police, they are paramilitary. Opposing ICE is not against law enforcement, it is not against police, it is against paramilitary.

It has and had its places but it should not be a fetish and one should always be aware of its limitations.

There's a world of difference between a scene of 50 doing specialized actions that can give years in prison, and a mass movement of protests.

OK so re 3d printing... the primary thing that you can't just replicate is the computer, right? but RasPis should be general purpose for the foreseeable future, and there's an existing open software stack. are there any other parts that would be easy bottlenecks if open 3d printing becomes illegal?

sovereignty is mostly bad for people and good for states, it's important to not mix those up

digital sovereignty is not really a good goal for people
Not a fan so far of "sovereign" displacing "open" in all things AI/tech in the EU.

been saying for years that biohacking is the realest transfeminist praxis and yet it is still seemingly a fringe position that we need to crowdsource scientific knowledge on transition because all the institutional knowledge about it is outdated Dark Ages garbage
Scientific research of gender transition has been stuck on "should these people be allowed to transition" for 50 years, so we don't know shit about how transitioning actually works.
Okay, transphobes freaking out because trans woman makes good on Broadway, yadah, yadah. But you skimmed right over the interesting bit. Estrogen made her feet smaller?? This is the kind of weird factoid I need to know more about. Is there scientific backing for this? Is it just anecdotal?

our world is the imagined universe from a high school Model UN conference. nobody is wearing dress socks, everyone's sexually harassing each other via notes, the delegate from the US is hung over from last night's party and really this is his first ever conference so cut him some slack

If the market were truly free and we didn’t spend billions subsidizing fossil fuels, renewables would’ve been the default a decade ago at least. Solar is dirt cheap, so is wind. Even with the high paying green jobs. We should’ve been world leaders in green energy by now but the GOP nuked that.
