1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧵

I say it in almost every talk I give:

Sports betting ads need to go the way of cigarette ads
One of these days, people will look back on these sports betting ads like we do on the ads for patent medicines featuring cocaine.

Well this is a nice surprise.

And the material will be well treated by someone who has spent lots of time playing the games (BG3 and D&D in general).

An example of how impacts of interventions can differ at individual and population levels, and are conditional on other events. Given a car hits you, the helmet helps. But mandating helmets could lower the # of bikes on the road & thus might increase the chance of getting hit in the first place.

2. In education, the core mode of learning for two centuries — the research paper — was destroyed overnight. In science, delicate balances of incentives are being upturned by products like OpenAI's Prism, leading to catastrophic feedback loops that will undermine the entire enterprise.

an administration staffed to the top with degenerate liars
Noem lies shamelessly: "An individual approached order Patrol officers with a 9mm semi-automatic gun. The officers attempted to disarm this individual, but the armed suspect reacted violently. This looks like a situation where an individual arrived to inflict maximum damage and kill law enforcement"

From the moment we know a technology steals/obfuscates people's labour to perform task X, it matters 0 how effective the people's labour you steal to do X is. They will likely get better at X over time and you will get better at stealing. Nothing of this justifies the theft. bsky.app/profile/oliv...
